Many schools' benchmark scores increased sharply

In 2025, the number of candidates applying for admission to universities will increase sharply, with some schools recording a three-fold increase in the number of applications compared to last year. However, according to an admissions expert at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, this year's benchmark scores will have unexpected changes that do not follow the pattern of previous years. This comes from changes in the admissions method, especially the correlation function used to convert admission scores equivalent to the admission methods and combinations of each school.

According to some universities, the admission scores of the schools have both increasing and decreasing trends compared to last year. In particular, "hot" majors attract many candidates to register, the admission scores have increased sharply in many schools.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education shows that the expected benchmark scores for most majors have increased compared to last year. Some majors have decreased their benchmark scores, but very little. The major with the highest benchmark score this year is expected to be English pedagogy. Next, the majors in the engineering-technology sector also have expected high benchmark scores, especially semiconductors and automation.

The University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also recorded an increase in the benchmark scores for all majors, including new majors. In particular, the major with the highest benchmark score is expected to be above 29 points for the A00 combination (math - physics - chemistry).

The University of Information Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) also has expected admission scores for majors ranging from 24 to over 29.5 points. "Specific" majors such as artificial intelligence and microchip design have seen their admission scores skyrocket. On the contrary, many other majors have admission scores on a downward trend.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade's benchmark scores also tend to increase evenly in most majors, ranging from 17 to 24.75 points. In particular, the majors that have attracted a large number of candidates to register in recent years still record benchmark scores equal to or higher than in 2024, such as: logistics and supply chain management, marketing, law, tourism , information technology, food technology. At the same time, majors in the moderate benchmark group in previous years have also increased significantly by 3 to 4 points, such as: electronics, mechanics, etc. Specifically, the electrical and electronic engineering technology industry increased sharply from 18 points last year to 22 points this year.

The University of Finance and Marketing predicts that the benchmark scores for majors this year will fluctuate between 0.5 and 2 points compared to last year, depending on the major, program, and admission method. Last year, the benchmark scores for majors based on high school graduation exam scores were between 22 and 25.9.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry recorded that the benchmark score for considering high school graduation exam scores may decrease slightly, other methods may increase compared to last year. Notably, the benchmark scores for mechanical engineering, automation, and electrical and electronic engineering majors will not decrease significantly and some majors are expected to increase. According to the plan, many majors of the school have benchmark scores in the range of 22 - 25 (calculated according to high school graduation exam scores). Corresponding to the method of considering high school learning results is 25 - 29 points, considering the score of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment exam is at 750 - 900 points...
