Landslides in Ky Son district are still not open to traffic.

Việt NamViệt Nam08/08/2023

Mr. Vi Van Son - Head of the Economic Infrastructure Department of Ky Son district said that as of the morning of August 8, at the landslide points causing traffic jams, Provincial Road 543 was still unable to be opened to cars. After the efforts of Muong Ai Border Guard Station (Nghe An Border Guard) and local people, currently only motorbikes can get through.

The reason is that it is raining continuously, so machinery cannot enter to fix it. Especially at the landslide site in Muong Tip commune, on top of the positive slope, there are some rocks and soil hanging, which can fall down at any time. Therefore, the units do not dare to bring in vehicles to fix it and level the traffic.

Previously, on the night of August 5, in Ky Son district, there was heavy rain, causing serious landslides on Provincial Road 543 - the route from Muong Xen town to Ta Ca, Muong Tip, Muong Ai... and some points on National Highway 7 from Muong Xen town to Nam Can border gate.

Currently, the weather in Ky Son is still experiencing moderate to heavy rains, so landslides are likely to occur on roads, especially at places that have previously experienced landslides and landslides near residential areas. Therefore, local authorities and people need to proactively grasp the weather situation to have response plans, especially having solutions to evacuate people from high-risk areas to avoid flash floods that can occur at any time./.
