Brazil investigates TikTok's access to minors' data

The statement stressed that issues related to children and adolescents are important and that Brazil has specific regulations under which the privacy of personal data must be “fully protected”, especially for minors.

Based on these suspicions, ANDP opened an administrative case against TikTok and gave the platform 10 days to disable resources that allow access to content without prior registration or age verification.

ANDP also called on TikTok to have a plan to restrict the creation of fake profiles, preventing children and teenagers from opening accounts without “parent or guardian permission” during the registration process.

TikTok is one of the most used social networks in Brazil, with about 82 million users over the age of 18. However, there are no exact statistics on the number of children and teenagers accessing the platform.
