The Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) has just announced about the fake drug Theophyllin extended-release tablet (Theophylline 100mg).
Specifically, the Department received a report from the Dong Nai Provincial Testing Center regarding the product sample with the following information on the label: Theophylline extended - Release tablets 100mg (Theophyllin 100mg), batch number 05089, production date 03/02/2022, expiration date 03/02/2026.
Place of manufacture Pharmacy Laboratories Plus (Warsaw); the drug sample does not have information about the Circulation Registration Certificate (GĐKLH) and/or Import License number (GPNK), and the importing facility on the label.
Recently, authorities have continuously discovered fake Theophylline drugs with concentrations of 100mg and 200mg (Illustration: SPG).
The drug sample was taken by the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team to inspect compliance with laws on environmental protection, food safety, health and insurance in Dong Nai province (formerly Binh Phuoc ) at My Anh General Clinic Company Limited (My Anh Pharmacy), located in Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province (formerly).
The drug sample did not meet the quality requirements for quantitative indicators (19.71%) and solubility indicators (18.8-22.5%) of the amount stated on the label of Theophylline according to the Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia V.
Previously, on December 31, 2024 and May 28, the Drug Administration of Vietnam announced the counterfeit drug Theophylline 200mg, manufactured by Pharmacy Laboratories Plus (Warsaw); the drug sample did not have information about the GĐKLH number and/or GPNK number on the label.
Therefore, to ensure safety for users, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health to urgently report to the Steering Committee 389 and coordinate with the police, market management agencies, the local Steering Committee 389 and relevant authorities to inspect My Anh General Clinic Company Limited, Bu Gia Map District, Binh Phuoc Province (old).
At the same time, trace the origin of the product batch with information printed on the label Theophyllin extended-release tablet (Theophylline 100mg), place of manufacture: Pharmacy Laboratories Plus, on the label there is no information about the GĐKLH and/or GPNK number, information about the importing facility; strictly handle violating facilities according to regulations.
The Department shall report the results of inspection, examination and handling to the Department before July 31.
The Department of Health of provinces and cities is responsible for notifying drug businesses and users and people not to buy/sell or use the above Theophyllin extended-release tablet (Theophylline 100mg) product.
Consumers should immediately stop using the above mentioned Theophylline extended-release tablet (Theophylline 100mg and Theophylline 200mg); notify the authorities when discovering information about this drug.
