"We regret the annual human rights report released by the US State Department on August 12. This report does not reflect Vietnam's achievements and progress in protecting human rights," spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 14.

Previously, Ms. Hang received a request to provide Vietnam's response to the US State Department 's annual human rights report, which included content about Vietnam.

A representative of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the above report continues to make subjective comments, "based on inaccurate and unverified information about the actual situation in Vietnam".

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson affirmed: "Protecting and promoting human rights is Vietnam's consistent policy. Vietnam always considers people as the center and driving force of the innovation process and national development.

The Party and State of Vietnam always strive to improve the lives and rights of the people and leave no one behind. Basic human rights and freedoms are recognized in the Vietnamese Constitution, protected and promoted by specific documents and implemented in practice."

Ms. Hang affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to have frank discussions with the US on remaining differences in a constructive spirit to enhance mutual understanding, thereby actively contributing to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and the US.
