Tu Ky troops increase production effectively

Good and creative way

We recently had the opportunity to visit the production garden of the Tu Ky District Military Command. The lush green vegetable beds and livestock and poultry barns are scientifically arranged. This is the result of the skillful and diligent hands of the officers and employees in the unit. Implementing the model of "Increasing production around the kitchen, around the garden", the unit has made the most of the vacant land from flower pots and flower pots to intercrop spices. The garden and livestock barn areas are neatly planned, divided into plots and beds, and suitable vegetables and fruits are selected for planting. The Tu Ky District Military Command has introduced many new breeds of pigs and poultry to raise for meat and eggs in the barns. From a lack of green vegetables, the food source only met 70% of the demand, up to now, the District Military Command has met 90% of the food source for the meals of officers and soldiers. Thanks to increased production, the food allowance for officers and soldiers has increased by 2,000-2,500 VND/person/day.

The unit has effectively deployed and maintained many models associated with the movement "The military logistics sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings" such as "Good soldier feeding, good military supply management"; "Youth vegetable garden", "Model vegetable garden"... With the motto of self-assurance and prioritizing the quality of clean food for soldiers, the unit always pays attention to and invests effectively in increasing production. Officers and employees in the unit spend their working days improving the soil and growing new plant varieties. The District Military Command divides the work of taking care of the garden and livestock barns for each department to create a working and production atmosphere right in the unit. At the "8th hour", officers and employees prioritize time taking care of the garden to increase production.

Professional Captain Pham Van Hung, a logistics officer of the Tu Ky District Military Command, said: “The fruits of labor are reflected in the unit’s daily meals with a variety of fresh, safe, and nutritious foods. Profits from increased production are also a source for the unit to supplement meals during holidays and Tet, and serve cultural and sports activities.”

From 2019 to 2024, the district armed forces raised 12 herds of pigs, more than 600 poultry and fish of various kinds. As a result, the unit collected nearly 3 tons of pigs, 1.5 tons of poultry, nearly 3 tons of fish, more than 22 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits of various kinds. In the period of 2019-2024, the total revenue from increased production and logistics services of the unit reached over 250 million VND.

Improve the material and spiritual life of soldiers

In mid-June, the working group of the Logistics Department of Military Region 3 inspected the military supply work and reviewed the results of production increase at the Military Command of Tu Ky district. Colonel Le Nguyen, Deputy Head of Logistics of Military Region 3, highly appreciated the effective way of production increase of the Military Command of Tu Ky district. Production increase has gradually improved, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of soldiers, building a regular, green, clean and beautiful unit.

Every year, production increase activities are included in the resolution by the District Military Command with specific criteria. As a result, the following year's targets are always higher than the previous year.

Tu Ky District Military Command also regularly maintains and expands the model of "Good feeding of soldiers, good management of military supplies". The system of dining halls and kitchens is invested in and built spaciously, all the feeding utensils are made of stainless steel, cooking is done with steam stoves. For many years, the kitchen of Tu Ky District Military Command has met the standard of "Good feeding of soldiers - good management". Thanks to that, the number of healthy soldiers reached 99.7%. Tu Ky District Military Command is a bright spot of the province's armed forces in increasing production.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Truong, Commander of the Tu Ky District Military Command, said: “Participating in production activities is the duty of every soldier. It not only provides the main source of food for the daily meals of the entire unit but also provides an environment for training life skills for each officer and soldier. Production activities combined with thrift practice are important factors contributing to building a strong and comprehensive unit.”
