At Song Than station, Binh Duong Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi (left cover) affirmed the special significance and importance of Song Than station to the economy of Binh Duong province in particular and the whole region in general. Therefore, Binh Duong identified this as a key project, and it is necessary to continue to speed up the progress of upgrading and expanding the station so that the project can soon bring about economic efficiency. |
The Secretary of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee requested Di An City to quickly clear the site and hand over the land to the Vietnam Railways General Department to implement the station upgrade and expansion project. He noted that the implementation of the Song Than station upgrade and expansion must have a specific plan, roadmap, and implementation time, and cannot be prolonged any longer. |
Song Than Station is the largest cargo station in the South, transporting international cargo to China and Europe, so it is of special importance to the Southern Key Economic Zone. In 2023, the volume of cargo transported through Song Than Station reached 1.6 million tons, expected to reach 3.2 million tons by 2030. |
Currently, the Ministry of Transport has agreed to upgrade Song Than station into an international transit station. However, according to standards and requirements, the area of the warehouse for services is still lacking. Therefore, the General Department of Vietnam Railways hopes that Binh Duong province will support in clearing the land and handing over public land encroached by people to upgrade and expand the station, meeting the needs of an international transit station. |
As planned, Song Than station will be upgraded with an estimated capital of nearly 180 billion VND. Specifically, the station will be built, renovated, and supplemented with a cargo yard, and synchronous items will be built; new buildings for operations, customs, border guards, and police will be built. An Binh cargo yard will be upgraded, its loading and unloading lanes will be renovated, additional loading and unloading lanes will be installed; and a new cold storage will be built. |

Binh Duong plans to increase the planning scale of An Binh station (the cargo gathering place of Song Than station) from 64.6 hectares to about 200 hectares (from public land fund due to land recovery after the lease term of Song Than Industrial Park has expired) and has been updated in the planning of railway routes and stations connecting in the area. It is expected that the planning will have full features to connect the region. |
Recently, Binh Duong province has proposed to the Government leaders, the Ministry of Transport and central ministries and branches to support the locality to promptly update and supplement the Provincial Planning and implement the project in the coming time. |
