Vietnam Social Security: End the situation where patients who want to be treated have to pay more money

Vietnam Social Security requires ensuring the rights of people who go to see a doctor or receive medical treatment using health insurance.

Faced with the hot weather situation occurring in many areas across the country, Vietnam Social Security has just issued a document requesting Social Security agencies in the regions to report to the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct medical examination and treatment facilities to ensure the health of patients in harsh weather conditions.

According to Vietnam Social Security, recently, some people have reported that many medical examination and inpatient treatment areas at health insurance facilities do not have air conditioning, or if they do, they cannot be used in hot weather. This affects the rights and health of patients.

In fact, current regulations on medical examination and treatment service prices have fully calculated the costs of electricity, maintenance of air conditioning in examination areas, inpatient treatment rooms, procedure rooms, operating rooms, etc.

In addition, circulars of the Ministry of Health also stipulate that medical facilities must use funds from appropriate revenue sources to purchase, repair and replace medical equipment that is not fixed assets to ensure professional conditions, hygiene, patient safety and improve the quality of patient service.

Accordingly, Vietnam Social Security requires regional Social Security to issue a document requesting health insurance medical examination and treatment facilities to strengthen heat protection for patients, ensuring that medical examination areas and inpatient treatment areas are cool in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Health.

“Absolutely do not allow the situation where only the on-demand medical examination and treatment areas and on-demand treatment rooms use air conditioning. Or the department or hospital room has air conditioning but it is broken or cannot be used, forcing patients to request treatment at the on-demand medical examination and treatment areas or on-demand treatment rooms...” - Vietnam Social Security emphasized.

In case of detecting that medical examination and treatment facilities do not ensure heat protection, affecting the health and satisfaction of health insurance patients, the regional Social Insurance shall promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Health and health insurance medical examination and treatment facilities to have solutions to prevent heat protection, avoiding the above situation.
