Vietnamese Buddhism blends with the flow of national culture
In his closing speech, Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said that the 20th United Nations Vesak celebration was solemnly held in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the brilliant flags and jubilant celebration of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
The 2025 Vesak Celebration received more than 1,000 presentations focusing on the theme: "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development", once again affirming that, in Buddhist teachings, the philosophy of solidarity and tolerance are two core elements expressing the spirit of compassion, wisdom and aiming for the common happiness and peace of the community, the sustainable development of each nation and people.

Solidarity and tolerance are not only Buddhist moral doctrines, but also forever the guiding principles for people's thoughts, words and actions to build a peaceful society, with less conflict and full of love.
Vietnamese Buddhism has always been integrated into the flow of national culture, always accompanying the nation in all historical circumstances. The philosophy of solidarity and tolerance of Buddhism has contributed to creating the identity and strength of the spirit of great national solidarity; contributing to deepening the spirit of patriotism, love for the nation, tolerance, respect for humanity, respect for justice, the culture of love, mutual support, sharing, helping each other... which has been deeply ingrained in the thoughts, feelings, and soul of every Vietnamese person.
Solidarity is a priceless heritage, a precious tradition of every Vietnamese person; it is the strength that makes Vietnam a powerful nation, always overcoming all difficulties and challenges, defeating all enemies, winning all victories, creating glorious and radiant miracles throughout history.

The 20th United Nations Day of Vesak with the theme: "Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Wisdom for World Peace and Sustainable Development", was hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Vietnam celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 80th anniversary of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
2025 is the fourth time Vietnam has organized this important event, after successfully organizing the United Nations Vesak Festival at the My Dinh National Convention Center (Hanoi) in 2008, at Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh Province) in 2014, and at Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam Province) in 2019.
The event gathered about 2,700 delegates, including about 1,200 international delegates from 85 countries and territories.
Within the framework of the festival, outstanding activities include: a solemn opening ceremony, an international scientific conference with presentations at 5 bilingual forums, a Buddhist cultural exhibition and special Buddhist art programs...
The 2025 Vesak Festival left a deep impression on the participants, affirming the role of Buddhism in building a world of peace, tolerance and sustainable development.
