At the production area of the Agricultural Service Center of Bat Xat district, the lush green squash beds are in the main harvest season. This is a production model following a completely organic process, from soil preparation, fertilizer treatment to care, all without the use of pesticides or synthetic chemicals. The model is implemented not only to provide safe food for consumers, but also to create a new direction for local vegetable production.

Ms. Bui Thi Xuan, a technical officer of the District Agricultural Service Center, said that vegetables are cared for using natural methods, using only treated chicken manure, and absolutely no pesticides. Organic production requires a lot of care and close monitoring of the condition of the plants, but in return, the vegetables are soft, sweet, fresh for a long time and ensure food hygiene and safety.

The model is deployed on 3 hectares of land, growing both vegetables for shoots and vegetables for fruits. After about 2 months of planting, squash begins to yield shoots, lasting 1.5 to 2 months. Every day, the Center supplies the market with about 150 - 160 bunches of vegetables, with a selling price of 8,000 - 10,000 VND/bunch. Squash is also in season, with a linked purchase price of 8,000 to 10,000 VND/kg. Thanks to stable consumption through the system of clean agricultural product stores and online sales channels, the model not only avoids the situation of "good harvest, low price", but also increases the value of clean agricultural products.
The economic efficiency of the model is estimated at about 100 - 120 million VND/ha/crop, 2 - 3 times higher than growing corn. More importantly, the model has opened up a new way of agricultural production in the highlands, which is to focus on quality, safety and sustainable development instead of just chasing output.

Not only receiving high appreciation from professional agencies and local authorities, organic vegetable products of Bat Xat Agricultural Service Center are also trusted by consumers, especially through online shopping channels.
Ms. Tran Lan Anh, an office worker in Lao Cai city, a regular customer ordering vegetables via social networks, said: I learned about organic vegetables from Bat Xat Agricultural Service Center through a fanpage selling clean agricultural products. At first, my colleagues and I bought a few bunches of squash shoots to try. They were soft and sweet, completely different from vegetables bought at the market, so we ordered them every week.

From the initial positive results, the Agricultural Service Center of Bat Xat district is developing a plan to expand the scale, not only increasing the area of squash but also gradually testing and putting into production other types of organic vegetables such as mustard greens, mustard greens, lettuce, green beans, cabbage, etc. Diversifying crops helps to take advantage of the land and climate conditions of the highlands, while meeting the market demand for clean food.
Mr. Vu Van Son, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Bat Xat District, said: The unit has coordinated with the People's Committees of communes such as Quang Kim, Muong Hum, Ban Qua... to select households with land conditions and wishing to convert to organic production to visit and learn about the model. The center also arranged technical staff to directly support the production process, from land preparation, fertilization to harvesting and consuming products.
"We aim to gradually form a small but stable organic vegetable production area, linked to chain consumption, and move towards building the Bat Xat organic vegetable brand," added Mr. Vu Van Son, Deputy Director of the Bat Xat District Agricultural Service Center.
The expansion of the organic vegetable model not only helps to improve economic efficiency, create stable output for farmers but also focuses on protecting consumers' health and improving the farming environment. The organic vegetable model in Bat Xat is gradually spreading, promising to create a greener, cleaner, more sustainable and efficient agricultural production area in the future.
