The 2025 AFF Women's Championship has reached the semi-finals. The four teams present in the knockout round include the highly rated Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and U23 Australia women's football teams.
Before the semi-finals, Thailand's Siam Sport newspaper praised the tournament: "Fans flocked to watch the match between the Vietnamese and Thai women's football teams on August 12. It created one of the highest-attended matches in the tournament so far."

“The Vietnamese women's football team defeated the Thai women's team 1-0 in this match, witnessed by 25,000 spectators,” Siam Sport added.
The high number of spectators at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ) is a dream for many football stadiums in the region and around the world. There are not many women's football matches at different levels that can attract as many spectators as in Vietnam.
Siam Sport commented: “The Southeast Asian Women’s Football Championship once faced the reality of very low audience numbers. Previously, each match of this tournament had only a few thousand, sometimes only a few dozen spectators coming to the stadium to watch the girls play football.”
“However, the tournament has become more popular now. In recent days, each match in the regional women's football tournament has reached tens of thousands of people in the stands,” Thailand's leading sports daily emphasized.

That's about the organization, about the audience, and about the expertise, another Thai newspaper, Thairath, praised the quality of the 4 teams in the semi-finals.
Thairath newspaper commented: “The reigning Southeast Asian champion Philippines has been eliminated, the semi-finals are ready. Thailand, a team that has won the cup four times, will face Myanmar, a team that has won the cup twice. Myanmar is the team that eliminated the Philippines in the group stage.”
“Meanwhile, host Vietnam, a three-time champion, will face U23 Australia. This is only the second time Australian football has had a representative at the Southeast Asian women’s football championship,” Thairath added.
The semi-finals will take place on August 16 at Lach Tray Stadium. At 4pm, Thailand will face Myanmar. At 8pm, the Vietnamese women's football team will face U23 Australia.
