Vietnam women's team won 1-0 against Thailand
In the final match of the group stage of the Southeast Asian women's football tournament, the Vietnamese women's team won 1-0 against Thailand. With this result, coach Mai Duc Chung's team won the ticket to continue as the top team in Group A with 9 points after 3 matches.

Notably, in the past 10 years, Thailand has not been able to win against the Vietnamese women's team. This defeat only makes the pain of the Thai people even longer.
Commenting on the result of this match, Siam Sport wrote: “The Vietnamese women's team is ranked 37th in the FIFA rankings, while Thailand is ranked 53rd. Despite having a ticket to the next round, the Thai women's team still fielded their strongest lineup.
However, the “War Elephants” still could not break the curse against the Vietnamese women’s team. Thu Thao’s only goal in the 37th minute helped the home team win. This result also helped the Vietnamese women’s team take the top spot from Thailand.”
Another Thai newspaper, Thairath, wrote: “Chaba Kaew (the nickname of the Thai women's team) could not defeat the host Vietnam. The narrow 0-1 loss to the Vietnamese team caused Thailand to lose the top spot in the group. Coach Futoshi Ikeda's team had to face the top team of Group B in the semi-finals.”
PPTV newspaper confirmed that the Thai women's team still used their main lineup with the determination to win against the Vietnamese women's team. However, the "War Elephants" once again tasted bitterness when facing the "Golden Star Warriors". They said that the consolation for the Thai women's team was that they still had a ticket to the next round even if they lost.

Bangkok News commented: “The Thai women’s team was forced to accept second place in Group A after once again losing to the Vietnamese women’s team. It seems that Thai women’s football has not yet escaped the crisis after failing to qualify for the Asian Women’s Football Championship.”
The final match of Group B will take place at 7:30 p.m. on August 13. In which, U23 women's Australia will face Timor Leste, while the Philippines will face Myanmar. Before the final match, the Myanmar women's team temporarily leads the group with 6 points. U23 women's Australia and the Philippines have 3 points each. The scenario of 3 teams in this group all having 6 points is entirely possible. At that time, the head-to-head difference will be considered to determine the ranking.
With the top spot in Group A, the Vietnamese women's team will face the second place team in Group B in the semi-finals, while Thailand will face the first place team in Group B.
