Bao Phuong Vinh aims to conquer the World Cup of Pool tournament

Talking about the process of becoming a professional billiard player before becoming a world champion, Bao Phuong Vinh (born in 1995) said that Vinh was passionate about playing billiards since he was young, but only played for fun and participated in some amateur tournaments because he prioritized focusing on studying.

The World Championship tournament that Phuong Vinh just won is rated the highest by the World Billiard Federation because the winners of the World Cup of Pool or continental champions only receive 80 points.

Phuong Vinh said that before competing at the World Championship, she only set a goal of going as far as possible.

Regarding her next goal, Phuong Vinh said she wants to conquer the World Cup of Pool tournament. Being ranked in the top 10 in the world, Phuong Vinh will go straight to the group stage of the World Cup of Pool, held in Veghel (Netherlands) in October 2023.

Phuong Vinh's big opponent is player Tran Quyet Chien - the current World Cup of Pool champion.

Mr. Pham Van Son, senior manager of Tu Phuong Tony Company Limited, the company that has been accompanying player Bao Phuong Vinh in the past, said that the company's leadership has known Bao Phuong Vinh since Vinh first entered the professional competition path.

Phuong Vinh winning the prestigious world championship after just over a year of competing professionally is a great source of pride for Vietnam and the company in particular. Mr. Son hopes that Vinh will try his best to train and compete, continuing to bring pride to Vietnamese sports .

The World 3-Cushion Carom Championship is held annually; it was first held in 1928 and has been held 75 times to date. In the history of the tournament, there have only been 3 times when 2 players from the same country reached the final: Argentina in 1938, Belgium in 2017 and Vietnam in 2023.

In this year's final match in Ankara (Türkiye), Phuong Vinh defeated his senior Tran Quyet Chien 50-34, bringing home the first championship for Vietnam.
