Journey to make a mark
Officially connected to the Internet on February 3, 2007, on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper opened a fast, official information channel of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee on the Internet. In the early days of its establishment, although it was only a group of the Secretariat - Publishing Department, there were 4 staff members, including 1 deputy head of the department in charge and 3 technicians. Material conditions were limited, and the skills of making electronic newspapers were almost zero. However, with tireless efforts, working and studying at the same time, the Electronic Newspaper Department has gradually built a foundation of in-depth, rich, diverse and reliable information, effectively serving the political propaganda task of the province and the information needs of the public.

At first, the number of visits to Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper was only a few hundred, then increased to 4 thousand in 2010. By 2017, it had increased to over 12,000 visits per day and is currently over 19,000 visits per day. With diverse sections from political news, economics, culture, society, to National Defense - Security, education, entertainment... Friendly interface, carefully selected content and always updated are the "keys" to retain readers - from cadres, party members to people in remote areas, or overseas Vietnamese.

By November 8, 2019, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper was licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications to operate as an electronic newspaper. Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper promptly innovated and launched an interface version on smartphones. Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper actively learned innovation, promoted multimedia propaganda with efforts to produce and embed television and radio content into news and articles; build journalistic works through the form of Emagazine; use AI technology to read news and articles...
Implementing digital transformation in the Editorial Office, in December 2019, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper first launched the Ha Giang Online Radio Program with a duration of 3 programs/week. Promoting the multimedia features of the Electronic Newspaper, Ha Giang Newspaper boldly carried out live television content and live radio broadcasts of some important political events of the province on the Electronic Newspaper and on the Newspaper's Fanpage and some Fanpages of the province, which were highly appreciated by listeners and readers. Currently, the Editorial Board, staff, Editorial Board, and reporters of Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper are actively taking shortcuts, anticipating, and taking advantage of the development trend of information technology, improving the quality and multimedia features of the Electronic Newspaper.
Transforming strongly in the digital age
In the flow of the 4.0 industrial revolution, digital transformation is no longer a trend but a necessity for the press to survive and develop. Ha Giang e-newspaper has not stood outside that cycle, but has proactively kept pace, made strong, comprehensive and substantial changes, and become a bright spot in technology application in the Party newspaper block in localities nationwide.
Since 2021, Ha Giang Newspaper has built and put into operation a converged electronic newsroom software, allowing management of the press production process, from editing, reviewing articles, printing newspapers to paying royalties, all of which are digitized, creating a closed, efficient and flexible process. This is an important foundation to help the newsroom adapt to the modern journalism environment, especially with difficult, fragmented and remote terrain like Ha Giang province, the use of software in the news production process is very suitable in the context of working remotely and working at all times.

In 2022, Ha Giang Newspaper will continue to invest in a modern recording and filming studio, fully equipped with cameras, projectors, film editing software, virtual studios, etc. to serve the production of multimedia journalism works. Thanks to that, from being just a "news page" synthesizing content from printed newspapers, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper has risen to become an independent, flexible and creative media channel, producing special columns such as: Check-in Ha Giang, Talk Ha Giang, field reports, video news, reading audio stories, etc.
Not stopping there, Ha Giang Newspaper has actively expanded its media space to social networks, meeting readers' new information receiving habits. The Newspaper's official Fanpage currently has over 47,000 followers, becoming an effective interactive channel where press products are widely spread, especially during hot events. Typically, during the flood in Bac Quang district, the team of reporters of Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper continuously livestreamed at the scene, reporting directly on rescue work, attracting millions of views and shares.

In addition to the Vietnamese platform, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper also developed an English page (launched in April 2024), using a modern CMS system, integrating feedback management, content and interactive utilities. This is a strategic step to serve foreign affairs, promote the image of Ha Giang to the world, especially in attracting investment and developing tourism in Ha Giang.

Journalism in the digital age is not only about “telling stories with words”, but also “telling stories with technology”. Ha Giang Newspaper has clearly demonstrated its acumen in mastering technology, integrating audio-visual-reading elements in each product, thereby enhancing user experience and expanding the newspaper’s influence.
Towards a new development path
With the spirit of initiative, creativity and dedication to the profession, from the time of its establishment with only 4 staff members sharing the ups and downs, the department now has 11 staff members, reporters, editors and technicians. The department always promotes the spirit of solidarity, attachment, creativity and mutual assistance to progress and develop together. Each staff member is conscious of training and improving their political qualities and professional qualifications. Everyone strives to complete their main professional tasks well, and always learns to be able to take on many other jobs. For example, Editor Minh Chau, who works as an editor but is still in charge of filming programs and reading radio broadcasts; reporter Vien Su, who works as a reporter and does graphics for multimedia press works... Thanks to that, although the work is a lot, the department still meets the requirements, from expertise, professionalism to editing news and articles to limit errors; Build and produce new content suitable for social networking platforms. Spread more of Ha Giang Newspaper's content to readers in all regions of the country and international friends.

With nearly 18 years of establishment and development, along with the printed newspaper and photo newspaper for the people in the highlands, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper has truly become a close "companion" in the hearts of readers. It is a spiritual food, a reliable address for every cadre, party member and people. Contributing to the glorious victory of Ha Giang Newspaper agency over the past 60 years.
In the coming time, the Party and State's policy is that Ha Giang province will merge with Tuyen Quang province and take the name Tuyen Quang province, the new province will officially come into operation from July 1, 2025. And Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper will also merge into one with Tuyen Quang Electronic Newspaper, taking the name Tuyen Quang Online Newspaper. Although there is a bit of sadness and regret from the people working at Ha Giang Newspaper as well as the readers who have been attached to and accompanied the newspaper. The two newspapers, two names are now merged into one, to move towards a new development path, with human resources in terms of personnel and digital technology to be focused and maximized. And the people working at Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper will continue to accompany readers with Tuyen Quang Online Newspaper. It is an important bridge between the Party, the State and the masses.
