Ensuring supply of goods during the rainy season

People buy and sell vegetables at Dong Huong Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Wholesale Market (Hac Thanh Ward).

On the afternoon of July 21, one day before storm No. 3 was forecast to make landfall in Thanh Hoa, despite the increasingly heavy rain, Ms. NTH (Hoang Hoa commune) was still sitting and selling vegetables at the Dong Huong Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Wholesale Market (Hac Thanh ward). She said: "I have been selling vegetables at the Dong Huong Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Wholesale Market for many years now. Every day, regardless of the sun or the storm, I still sell my goods without a single day off. This time, due to the impact of the storm, there was heavy rain, some types of vegetables were easily flooded and crushed, so harvesting was difficult, and goods were also scarcer than usual. Not only that, due to the rain, transporting vegetables from home to the market was quite difficult. This morning, it took me three times longer than usual to get the goods to the market due to traffic jams."

According to the reporter's records at Dong Huong Agricultural, Forestry and Aquatic Products Wholesale Market (Hac Thanh Ward), due to heavy rain, the number of sellers and buyers at the market has decreased compared to normal days. Although the prices of some vegetables, tubers and pork have increased slightly, the supply is regularly replenished so there is no shortage of goods or sudden price increases.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, who came to shop at the market, said: "Due to the rain and wind, it is difficult to go out, so when I go to the market, I take the opportunity to buy more goods than usual, from vegetables, fruits to fresh foods such as meat and fish. I see that although the items are reduced compared to normal days, the prices have not increased dramatically, but only slightly higher. Therefore, we are more secure and do not have to worry about having to stockpile food during the rainy season."

Ensuring supply of goods during the rainy season

People pay after shopping at Co.opmart Thanh Hoa supermarket.

At Co.opmart Thanh Hoa supermarket, according to observations on July 21, there were quite a lot of people coming here to shop. The most popular items bought by people were rice, instant noodles, meat, canned fish, sugar...

According to the representative of Co.opmart Thanh Hoa supermarket: To ensure the supply of goods, especially essential products, the supermarket has quickly replenished its supply, especially increasing the number of vegetables and fruits. Pork, chicken, shrimp products... are also very diverse. Regarding the reserve plan, the supermarket always has a plan to reserve dry products in the warehouse; at the same time, coordinate with central warehouses in the system and suppliers to ensure that the supply is not interrupted and prices do not fluctuate. Therefore, people should not panic, worry, or rush to stockpile goods beyond the necessary level, to ensure market stability, and to avoid hoarding and unreasonable price increases.

In the mountainous commune of Trung Ly, Mr. Giang Seo Lenh, Chairman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, said: Due to the characteristics of a mountainous locality, the roads are also far and difficult to travel, if there is heavy rain, some villages such as Canh Cong and Tung villages are at risk of being isolated. Therefore, to ensure safety and food for people during the rainy season, the Commune People's Committee encourages businesses to import more goods to sell to meet people's needs. At the same time, it also encourages people to buy more food than usual to ensure their lives. However, the commune also recommends that people should shop with a plan and not panic, hoarding too many goods compared to normal needs.

According to the assessment of functional sectors and enterprises distributing and trading goods, despite the impact of storm No. 3, the market situation of goods in the province is still basically stable, the purchasing power of fresh food and vegetables, tubers and fruits has increased but the supply still basically meets the demand. Therefore, the supply of essential goods will be guaranteed and sufficient for consumers before, during and after the storm.

In order to ensure the rights of consumers during storm No. 3, the province's functional departments have proactively worked with enterprises producing and distributing essential goods in the area to develop plans and estimate the supply capacity of each unit to have plans to deliver goods according to each scenario to ensure supply in situations and stabilize the market. This is also an important factor to improve the capacity to prevent, combat and adapt to natural disasters in the new situation; ensure social security, contributing to the successful implementation of local socio -economic development goals.
