Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center (under the Department of Meritorious People, Ministry of Home Affairs ) is a concentrated unit for caring for and treating war invalids and seriously ill soldiers, with the largest number of war invalids and the most severe level of disability. After 60 years of construction and development, the unit has received, managed, cared for, treated, and rehabilitated over 1,000 war invalids and seriously ill soldiers injured on battlefields and from almost every province in the country.

Currently, the center is managing, nurturing, treating and implementing policies for 84 seriously wounded and sick soldiers of level 1/4 (disability rate from 81% to 100%). Of these, 50 comrades were wounded during the resistance war against the US; 34 comrades were wounded during the period of defending and building the country. Due to the sequelae of their injuries, half of the wounded and sick soldiers here suffer from muscle atrophy and loss of sensation in the lower region; 90% of the wounded and sick soldiers have to move around in wheelchairs, rocking chairs, etc.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy, Head of the Army Youth Union, expressed his deep gratitude to the wounded and sick soldiers and those who contributed to the revolution.

At the center, the delegation of the Army Youth Union came to offer incense to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs at the Memorial House for Meritorious People. Next, the delegation visited, encouraged, and presented 84 gifts to wounded and sick soldiers and gave meaningful gifts to the center; the total value of the gifts was 56 million VND. In the case of some seriously wounded soldiers who could not move to the hall to receive gifts, the officers of the Army Youth Union went to the resting room to visit, encourage, and present gifts.

Speaking at the visit and gift-giving ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy, Head of the Army Youth Department, was moved to express: “Every time we meet and talk with wounded and sick soldiers, today's young people understand more and more the value of peace and appreciate more and more what they have. The sacrifices of the previous generation are the most vivid lessons about patriotism, steel spirit, and extraordinary determination that the younger generation needs to learn and follow... The Army's youth always deeply realize that caring for and supporting wounded and sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs and families with meritorious services to the revolution is not only a responsibility but also a sacred duty, continuing the nation's precious tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source".

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy added that on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, together with the youth of the whole country, the Army youth has deployed and implemented the program "Journey of Gratitude" with many specific and practical activities and tasks. During the "journey of gratitude" to Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center, on behalf of the working delegation, the Head of the Army Youth Department sent to the war invalids and sick soldiers and their families his sincere feelings, respect and deep gratitude.

The working delegation visited, encouraged, and gave gifts to seriously wounded, elderly, and weak soldiers.

At the same time, he affirmed that although the gifts given to the center and the wounded and sick soldiers are not of great material value, they contain the deep feelings, gratitude and sharing of the representatives of the Army's youth towards the wounded and sick soldiers and their families here.
