Handing over the golden mountain turtle to release it back to the wild

(Baohatinh.vn) - Thach Ha Forest Protection Department and Hong Loc Commune Police received a golden mountain turtle from Hong Loc Commune residents (Ha Tinh) to release into the natural environment.

On the morning of July 20, the family of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hao (born in 1979, in Kim Tan village, Hong Loc commune, Ha Tinh ) caught a golden mountain turtle in a ditch in their garden. Suspecting that this was a rare animal, Mr. Hao's family reported it to the Hong Loc commune police and forest rangers.

On the morning of July 21, Mr. Hao’s family handed over this rare turtle to the authorities. After receiving it, the police and forest rangers handed it over to Vu Quang National Park for care, monitoring, and rescue before releasing it back into the wild.

The newly delivered mountain turtle weighs 1.7 kg.

It is known that the golden mountain tortoise weighs 1.7 kg, has the scientific name Indotestudo elongata, belongs to group IIB in the list of endangered and rare animals and plants, and needs strict protection.
