According to British media, Bale's investment group wanted to buy the team from Vincent Tan last month. However, the initial offer was rejected. However, sources said Bale was determined to make the deal happen, especially in the context of Cardiff needing a new boost after being relegated from the Championship.
Although Bale has never played for Cardiff, he has close ties to the club, having been born in the Welsh capital. His uncle, Chris Pike, played for Cardiff as a striker between 1989 and 1993.
Bale was previously linked with a move to Plymouth Argyle, but now wants to turn his heart back to his homeland. Bale's career has seen great heights with Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid and LAFC. On the international stage, he led Wales to their first World Cup in 64 years, as well as two European Championships, most notably reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
With 111 caps and 41 goals, Bale holds the record for both appearances and goals in Wales' history. He was in talks with Cardiff in 2022 after leaving Real Madrid, but opted to join LAFC in the US before officially retiring in January 2023.
Reports of Bale's possible investment in Cardiff come just weeks after his former Tottenham and Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric became co-owner of Cardiff's rivals Swansea City.
If the deal is successful, Bale will bring a revival not only to Cardiff City, but also to Welsh football at club level.
