On the afternoon of June 6, at the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly elected Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee, to hold the position of Vice Chairwoman of the 15th National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term.

With 465/467 National Assembly deputies participating in the vote agreeing to pass the Resolution to elect Vice President of the National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh officially became Vice President of the National Assembly.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, born in 1967 in Yen Nhan commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. She has a master's degree in business administration, a bachelor's degree in law, a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th (alternate), 12th, and 13th terms; a delegate of the National Assembly of the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms; a member of the National Assembly Party Delegation, a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee; Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee; and Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Parliamentarians' Group.

Ms. Thanh has held many positions in Ninh Binh province since 2005 such as: Deputy Head, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee; Head of the Legal Committee and then Head of the Provincial People's Council's Social and Cultural Committee; Secretary of Yen Khanh District Party Committee.

She held the position of Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee in August 2013. In April 2020, she became Head of the Delegation Work Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee.

After electing Ms. Thanh, the 15th National Assembly now has 4 Vice Chairmen including Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Tran Quang Phuong and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh.

Since the beginning of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly has carried out personnel work by electing National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and President To Lam.

The National Assembly adjusted the program for the first time on the afternoon of May 21, agreeing to add content to approve the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss General To Lam from the position of Minister of Public Security.

General To Lam was elected as President on the morning of May 22. On the same day, the National Assembly passed a resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to relieve General To Lam from his position as Minister of Public Security. Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security, was assigned by the Prime Minister to manage the operations of the Ministry of Public Security until the competent authority completes the position of Minister of Public Security according to regulations.
