India enriches relations with Australia, Singapore

Today, November 3, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar began a visit to Australia and Singapore, scheduled to last until November 8.

According to a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs , during the first leg of his visit, Mr. S. Jaishankar will visit Brisbane, Queensland and inaugurate the fourth Consulate General of India in the land of the kangaroo.

A highlight of the agenda was Mr. S. Jaishankar and his host counterpart Penny Wong co-chairing the 15th Foreign Ministers' Framework Dialogue (FMFD) in Canberra.

The Indian Minister of External Affairs will deliver a keynote address at the inaugural session of the 2nd Raisina Down Under conference at the Australian Parliament House; meet the Indian community in Australia, as well as the Australian business community, media and academics.

At the second 2+2 Dialogue between Foreign and Defence Ministers in New Delhi in November last year, both sides welcomed the positive and growing momentum of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which contributes to regional security and prosperity.

On the second leg of the visit, on November 8, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will address the 8th Roundtable of the ASEAN-India Network of Study Groups.

He will also meet with Singaporean leaders to review the close partnership between the two countries and seek ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The last time Mr. S. Jaishankar visited Singapore was last March.

Before starting the visit, on November 2, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with his Thai counterpart Maris Sangiampongsa in the capital New Delhi, together assessing bilateral relations and discussing sub-regional, regional and multilateral issues.
