In particular, revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 15.2% and revenue from tourism and travel increased by 24.7%.
In the first 5 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 9.2 million.
Specifically, tourism revenue in the first five months of 2025 is estimated at VND38.4 trillion, accounting for 1.4% of the total and increasing by 24.7% over the same period last year. Some localities with high revenue in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period last year include Ho Chi Minh City, up 30.4%; Dong Nai, up 29.1%; Lao Cai, up 24.4%; Hanoi , up 22.0%; Da Nang, up 19.9%.
Flexible visa policy contributes to attracting international visitors to Vietnam
In addition, favorable visa policies, tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international visitors to Vietnam.
In May 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 1.53 million, down 7.6% compared to the previous month and up 10.5% compared to the same period last year. In the first 5 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 9.2 million, up 21.3% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, arrivals by air reached 7.84 million, accounting for 85.2% of international arrivals and increasing by 23.6% over the same period last year; by road reached 1.18 million, accounting for 12.9% and increasing by 10.0%; by sea reached 175.4 thousand, accounting for 1.9% and increasing by 8.0%.
Contributing to the growth of the tourism industry in attracting domestic and foreign visitors are major and unique cultural events.
