2 Vietnam Airlines planes collided at Noi Bai: What did the airline say?

(Dan Tri) - Plane number VN-A863, while taxiing onto the runway to prepare for takeoff, collided with the tail of plane number VN-A338 at Noi Bai airport.

On June 27, at Noi Bai International Airport, a collision occurred between two planes while moving in the taxiway area.

According to Vietnam Airlines , flight VN-A863 on flight VN7205 (Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City) while taxiing onto the runway to prepare for takeoff, its wing scraped the tail of flight VN-A338 on flight VN1804 (Hanoi to Dien Bien).

The airline said that immediately after the incident, the airport authorities quickly took action according to procedures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. All passengers on the two flights were assisted and arranged to transfer to alternative flights to continue their journeys.

Authorities are coordinating with relevant parties to assess and verify the cause of the incident according to regulations.

According to witnesses at the scene, the incident occurred when the A321 was waiting on the taxiway to prepare for takeoff. Meanwhile, the Boeing 787 taxied behind the A321.

When rolling past the A321's parking position, the Boeing 787's right wingtip brushed the A321's tail (the two planes were now almost perpendicular to each other).

Video recorded by passengers shows the collision causing the parked A321 to move, with a large tear in the tail wing.
