14 provinces in the Northern region continue to be on guard against flash floods and landslides

Roads in Thai Nguyen were deeply flooded due to the rain that lasted from 7pm on June 20.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 8:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. on June 22, the Northern provinces will continue to have rain with average rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 80mm.

Risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in the provinces in the above area, especially the districts: Muong Te, Nam Nhun, Phong Tho, Sin Ho, Tam Duong, Tan Uyen, Lai Chau city (Lai Chau province); Dien Bien Dong, Muong Nhe, Tuan Giao, Muong Lay town (Dien Bien province); Mai Son, Muong La, Moc Chau town, Van Ho, Yen Chau (Son La province); Da Bac, Kim Boi, Lac Son, Luong Son, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh city, Yen Thuy (Hoa Binh province); Bao Yen, Bat Xat, Lao Cai city, Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province); Luc Yen, Mu Cang Chai, Yen Binh (Yen Bai province); Bac Quang, Hoang Su Phi, Quang Binh, Ha Giang city, Xin Man (Ha Giang province); Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen, Na Hang, Yen Son (Tuyen Quang province); Ha Hoa, Lam Thao, Tam Nong, Tan Son, Thanh Son, Thanh Thuy, Yen Lap (Phu Tho province); Ba Be, Bach Thong, Cho Don, Cho Moi, Na Ri, Ngan Son, Pac Nam, Bac Kan city (Bac Kan province); Dai Tu, Dong Hy, Phu Binh, Phu Luong, Pho Yen city, Song Cong city, Thai Nguyen city, Vo Nhai (Thai Nguyen province); Bao Lac, Ha Quang, Nguyen Binh, Thach An (Cao Bang province); Bac Son, Binh Gia, Cao Loc, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Loc Binh, Lang Son city, Trang Dinh, Van Lang, Van Quan (Lang Son province); Lang Giang, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Son Dong, Tan Yen, Bac Giang city, Viet Yen town, Yen The (Bac Giang province).

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The Hydrometeorological Agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to take preventive and response measures.

From 7:00 a.m. on June 21 to 7:00 a.m. on June 22, the Northern provinces had rain, moderate to heavy rain such as: Dao San (Lai Chau) 110.6mm; Phieng Khoai2 (Dien Bien) 110.6mm; Kim Son2 (Hoa Binh) 274.8mm; Bao Ha1 (Lao Cai) 93.6mm; Yen The (Yen Bai) 106mm; Tien Nguyen1 (Ha Giang) 128mm; Phuc Ninh (Tuyen Quang) 130.2mm; Luong Nha (Phu Tho) 123mm; Don Phong (Bac Kan) 113.5mm; Cuc Duong (Thai Nguyen) 203mm; Tan Tri1 (Lang Son) 157.7mm; Bo Ha (Bac Giang) 154.8mm...

Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are close to saturation (over 85%) or have reached saturation.
