The creative camp was organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in collaboration with the Ca Mau Province Literature and Arts Association, with the participation of many artists from the southern provinces and cities. In addition to experiencing creative work in Dat Mui Commune, the authors also had a 3-day field trip (August 4-6) to Hon Khoai Island, the island outpost of the Fatherland.
The artists worked hard to complete their work.
After nearly a week of activity, the artists have created about 120 works, including 70 oil and acrylic paintings, 50 sketches in watercolor, iron pen and many other materials. Each work bears its own style, vividly depicting the beauty of nature, people and life in the southernmost region of the Fatherland.
Artist Tran Ngoc Linh ( Ho Chi Minh City) presented his work to Dat Mui Border Guard Station as a spiritual gift to show gratitude to the force protecting the islands.
On Hon Khoai Island alone, the artists completed 7 paintings, 10 watercolor sketches about the sea and islands, and 2 propaganda posters about the soldiers who patrolled day and night to protect the sacred sea and islands. The Organizing Committee decided to give the Hon Khoai Border Guard Station 7 works as a meaningful spiritual gift.

Works about Hon Khoai and the islands are completed right on the island, before being transferred to Dat Mui for display.
Typical works are currently on display at Binh Minh Eco -tourism Area, serving tourists and locals to visit and enjoy.
Painter Phan Thai Hoang, Head of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in Ca Mau Province and Head of the Western Colors Club, shared: “This creative camp not only helps artists access and record the pristine beauty of Dat Mui and Hon Khoai, but also creates opportunities for exchange, learning, and spreading the love of art associated with the love of homeland and country.”
Painter Phan Thai Hoang emphasized the significance of exchanging and spreading love of art associated with homeland and country.
Artist Huynh Hai Phuong Thao (Ho Chi Minh City) expressed: “Hon Khoai and Dat Mui have brought us abundant inspiration. I am most impressed by the image of the resilient border soldiers clinging to the sea, and hope that my work will contribute to conveying that spirit to the public.”
Artist Huynh Hai Phuong Thao shares her feelings about her creative days at Hon Khoai.
With this result, "Colors of the West" is not only a simple creative activity, but also a bridge connecting art with life, so that love for the homeland is expressed through the emotional language of painting.
The artist captured images of Hon Khoai border guards patrolling the rocky beach through watercolor works.
Club artists take souvenir photos with local authorities.
