Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) said that this enterprise has just opened the first training course on high-speed railways organized by the Railway College with the participation of nearly 120 students who are workers and technicians working at the Railway Joint Stock Company and the Railway Signal and Information Joint Stock Company.

Training human resources for high-speed railway is urgent

Ms. Do Thi Hong Chau, Member of VNR Board of Members, said that the high-speed railway project needs 13,880 workers, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project needs 2,431 workers. Therefore, training human resources to serve the management, exploitation, operation and maintenance of railway lines is a very important and urgent task.

Identifying highly qualified human resources, meeting technical requirements and advanced technology as key factors for building and operating modern railway systems and high-speed railways, VNR has directed the Railway College to work with experienced domestic and international schools to cooperate in training high-quality human resources to serve "super railway projects" in the coming time.

"The two training majors organized first, Construction and High-speed Railway Signaling Information, are an important step in preparing human resources to serve the construction of infrastructure for the High-speed Railway. In the following years, we will continue to train the operating sector: Train Driving and Train Operation," Ms. Chau informed.

There will be support from Chinese lecturers and experts.

Dr. Truong Trong Vuong, Principal of Vietnam Railway College, added that the school has signed a memorandum of understanding on training cooperation with Liuzhou and Kunming Railway Academy of China. The training course focuses on two majors: High-speed Railway Construction and Signal Information, ensuring practical application and meeting the needs of businesses.

Liuzhou Railway Academy is the only railway training academy in Guangxi. Founded in 1956, after 69 years of development, the school has trained about 150,000 high-quality personnel for China's high-speed railway industry.

The course is divided into 2 phases: Phase 1, students are trained in theory for 3 - 4 months at Vietnam Railway College by lecturers and experts on Chinese high-speed railways with the assistance of school lecturers; Phase 2, students are trained in practical internships and practical training for about 3 months in China.

Initially, nearly 120 students will be divided into 4 classes in 2 areas: Hanoi (2 classes) and Da Nang (2 classes).

It is expected that from now until the end of 2025, the school will continue to organize 3 more classes, bringing the total number of students trained in 2025 to about 200 people. After the opening ceremony, the official class will start from June 23, 2025.
