In the first 6 months of this year alone, international visitors to Vietnam reached over 10.6 million, an increase of 20.7% over the same period in 2024 and exceeding 25.7% over the same period in 2019 - the time before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Vietnam National Tourism Administration said that the number of visitors in the first half of this year was higher than the total number of visitors in the whole of 2016 (10 million).

Specifically, in June alone, the total number of international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 1.4 million, down 4.3% over the same period last month, up 17.1% over the same period last year.
The largest international tourist markets include China, South Korea, Taiwan (China), the US, India, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
Markets with increased visitor numbers compared to May include Norway (up 180%), Sweden (up 49%), the US (up 42%), Singapore (up 42%), Malaysia (up 21%), Russia (up 14%), Laos (up 13%).
Markets with a decrease in visitors compared to May include the Czech Republic (down 40%), France (down 40%), Poland (down 37%), Canada (down 33%), Belgium (down 31%), the Netherlands (down 24%), Denmark (down 23%), Germany (down 22%), China (down 10%), and South Korea (down 5%).
The number of domestic tourists in June is estimated at about 16 million. Of which, about 10.7 million are staying. The total number of domestic tourists in the first 6 months of this year reached 77.5 million.
Total revenue from tourists in the first half of this year is estimated at 518,000 billion VND.
In June, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism also promoted tourism in a number of key markets such as Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Along with that, many new attractive flight routes and tourism products of Vietnam, suitable to the tastes of the people, were introduced to international friends and tourists.
Thus, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, thanks to the open visa policy and effective tourism promotion and stimulus activities, the tourism industry has completed nearly 49% of this year's growth target.
Explaining the increase in international visitors, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that it was primarily due to the impact of the visa exemption policy and the open issuance of e-visas, as well as innovation in tourism promotion and diversification of products and services. In particular, promoting Vietnamese tourism in Europe such as Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Poland has been effective.
With more than 10.6 million international visitors achieved in the first half of this year, the tourism industry is expecting to reach the target of 22-23 million visitors this year.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the time that is considered to have the greatest impact on the number of visitors is the peak season from October to December every year.
