Zeekr 9X sets launch date, "rival" Mercedes-Benz GLS

Zeekr has officially announced the launch date of its flagship SUV, the Zeekr 9X, about two months after the car was displayed at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Accordingly, the Zeekr 9X 2025 will be launched on July 9 in China. This large plug-in hybrid model promises to go on sale in the third quarter of 2025, becoming a formidable competitor in the high-tech luxury SUV segment.

The Zeekr 9X has a large size with a length of 5,239 mm, a width of 2,029 mm, a height of 1,819 mm and a wheelbase of up to 3,169 mm. The overall design of the car is muscular, inspired by super luxury SUVs such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

The front of the 2025 Zeekr 9X luxury SUV is designed by the Chinese automaker to be square, with a large vertical grille and a slightly slanted D-pillar design that creates a sense of stability.

The Zeekr 9X's grille is the world's largest single block, with a base width of 1,245 mm. Meanwhile, the clamshell hood has an area of up to 2.15 m², which the company also claims is the largest in the automotive industry today.

The interior of the car impresses with a 30-inch 6K resolution central screen, along with a gear lever placed behind the steering wheel. This SUV will have 2 interior layout options including the standard 6-seat version and the high-end Zeekr 9X Grand version with 4 luxurious seats.

The Zeekr 9X is the company's first hybrid model, with a powertrain that combines a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine (279 horsepower) and two electric motors located on the front and rear axles, along with an AWD drive system. The total system capacity reaches 898 horsepower. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

The car is equipped with a CATL Freevoy battery combined with a 900V electrical structure, supporting 6C fast charging, allowing charging from 0 to full in less than 10 minutes. The announced pure electric travel distance can reach 635 km, depending on the version.

The Zeekr 9X is built on a chassis platform with dual-chamber air suspension, dual-valve continuous damping system and 48V active anti-roll bars, which are usually only found on luxury cars. The car can reach a maximum ground clearance of 288 mm, ready for many operating conditions.

One of the technological highlights of the Zeekr 9X is the G-Pilot H9 autonomous driving support system. This is a level 3 (L3-ready) intelligent driving platform, using two Nvidia Drive Thor chips with a total processing capacity of up to 1,400 TOPS (trillions of calculations per second), accompanied by 5 LiDAR sensors, 13 cameras and 3 mm-wave radars.

According to initial information, the Zeekr 9X will be sold in China with prices ranging from 500,000 to 1,000,000 yuan (equivalent to 1.81 - 3.63 billion VND). This will be the brand's flagship SUV, competing with big names such as Li Auto L9, Mercedes-Benz GLS PHEV or large electric SUVs from BYD and Nio.
