6 years of love but still not married, should I continue to wait?

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí22/09/2024

After 6 years of being in love, I already considered Hung as my husband, just waiting for the official wedding so we could walk down the aisle together. My parents, relatives, aunts and uncles all knew about our presence in each other's lives and constantly urged us to get married. But every time we talked about marriage, Hung just smiled.

The reasons Hung gave were always reasonable, because we were too young, our jobs needed to be more stable, because he wanted to have enough money to buy a house before getting married to ease my burden, or because his mother thought this year was not a good year for marriage. There were times when I felt sorry and blamed him, but as long as Hung hugged me and made a few sweet promises, I would be moved to indulge him.

It's not that I don't know that my youth is passing by, it's not that I don't know I'm foolish, I'm also afraid of being too old and then one day "opening my eyes". But I still put my absolute trust in Hung.

Yêu 6 năm vẫn chưa cưới, tôi có nên tiếp tục chờ đợi không? - 1

Since we first fell in love, Hung has always pampered me (Illustration: KD).

Since we fell in love, Hung has always been faithful, pampered me, paid for my tuition, bought me groceries, took me to school and out. When I graduated, he was the one who told my family to get me a job.

So what reason do I have not to love, trust and wait for him? It's just that my waiting time is about to turn me into an old maid.

Today I dared to mention the wedding again, Hung angrily blamed me: "Do you love me or do you need to show off to outsiders? Let them say whatever they want, you are the one who understands our story best. You've waited for me for 6 years, why can't you wait a little longer?"

I asked Hung how much longer? I was running out of patience waiting for him year after year and I didn't want to wait any longer. Hung angrily said harshly: "If you can't wait, then let's break up."

Seeing me burst into tears, Hung softened his voice:

- Do you want to marry a man who has no career and no certainty to take care of your future?

- Up until now, I have always taken good care of you. From now on, we will work hard together, no matter how hard it is, you will endure it.

But no matter what I said, Hung wouldn't listen, thinking I didn't understand. If I insisted on getting married now, I was making things difficult for him, and in the end Hung told me: "If you're tired, you don't need me anymore, I'll set you free."

After that, we kept completely silent, until today, 4 days have passed. Now, I feel very hurt and confused. I don't want my 6-year relationship to end here and in such an unclear way.

Should I talk to Hung again, at least so I don't fall into regret?
