On the morning of November 1, Lang Chanh district held a conference to deploy the Project to build "Drug-free communes, wards, towns, districts, towns, and cities" in the area for the period 2024 - 2025.

In recent times, Lang Chanh district has focused on leading and directing the drastic implementation of many solutions, mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system, all levels and sectors in the fight against, prevention and control of drugs in the area.
Currently, Lang Chanh district has 3/10 drug-free communes, including Lam Phu, Tri Nang, and Yen Khuong communes (border communes). Through screening, up to now, there are 219 people in the area related to drugs (of which 103 people have criminal records related to drugs). Specifically, 24 are addicts, 13 are illegal drug users, 7 are post-rehabilitation managers, 30 are suspected of being addicted to drugs, and 73 are suspected of illegal drug use. Of these, 115 are absent from the locality. The number of people related to drugs is concentrated in areas such as Lang Chanh town, Giao Thien, Dong Luong, and Yen Thang communes.
From 2019 to present, Lang Chanh District Police have discovered, arrested, and prosecuted 31 cases, 54 subjects; seized 20,993 pink pills; 13.143 grams of heroin; 6.411 grams of crystal meth; established records to send 15 addicts to compulsory drug rehabilitation and mobilized 5 cases to voluntarily go to drug rehabilitation.

Since 2023 alone, Lang Chanh District Police have cracked down on 3 special cases, arrested and coordinated in the arrest of 6 cases, 17 defendants for drug crimes including buying, selling, storing, and organizing illegal drug use. The seized evidence included 1,041 pink pills; 0.249 grams of heroin and many other evidences related to the criminal acts of the subjects. Records were made to send 4 subjects to compulsory drug rehabilitation facilities and mobilized 1 case to voluntarily go to drug rehabilitation.
Pursuant to Decision No. 3822/QD-CAT-PV01 dated September 18, 2024 of the Director of the Provincial Police Department on promulgating the Project on building "Drug-free communes, wards, towns, districts, towns and cities" in Thanh Hoa province for the period 2024-2025 (referred to as Project 3822), Steering Committee 138 of Lang Chanh district issued an implementation plan. The general objective is: Strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities from the district to the grassroots level, synchronously deploying solutions to effectively prevent and combat crimes and drug abuse in the district.
Improve the effectiveness of propaganda, dissemination and legal education to reduce the number of drug addicts and illegal drug users, moving towards a drug-free district; organize effective combat against drug crimes, resolutely prevent the formation of complex drug hotspots and gathering places; prevent the planting and replanting of plants containing narcotic substances.
Identifying drug prevention and control as an important and regular task of all levels, sectors, agencies, units, departments, branches and organizations. Mobilizing the strength of the entire political system and the masses to actively participate in preventing and combating drug crimes and evils; effectively implementing the work of managing addicts, post-rehabilitation management, illegal drug users, drug rehabilitation, post-rehabilitation management and supporting the reintegration of post-rehabilitation addicts and subjects who have completed their drug-related prison sentences; determined to complete 10/10 communes and towns in the district to be drug-free.
