This is a training course to improve awareness and professional capacity for officers and employees in the nuclear field, especially those in charge of management, operation, incident response and security at the facility.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Kien Cuong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, expressed his gratitude to the US experts and acknowledged the effective support from the SNL Laboratory in funding the installation of security systems, transferring knowledge, providing professional documents and training the operational staff at the Institute.
Mr. Nguyen Kien Cuong emphasized that building a security culture is not only an immediate requirement but also a long-term foundation for future nuclear projects. This culture needs to be nurtured and spread as an indispensable part of all activities of the Institute.
Mr. Nguyen Kien Cuong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Science, spoke at the opening ceremony.
Participating in the training course were experts from SNL and ORS and nearly 25 trainees who were officers and employees from the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, the Mobile Police Department - Lam Dong Provincial Police and Hong Thuy Trading and Technology Company Limited.
The training program is implemented with 4 key topics: Introducing security culture (Clarifying the role of each individual and organization in building a healthy security environment); identifying threats (Analyzing internal and external risks, guiding the process of detecting and reporting unusual behavior); assigning responsibilities (Clearly defining the roles and coordination mechanisms between parties in the integrated security system); enhancing security culture (Introducing self-assessment tools and key factors to improve sustainable security culture, including: awareness, prevention, implementation, integration and training).
The topics are designed to combine theory and practice through simulation situation analysis, group discussions and direct feedback from experts, helping students apply effectively in practice.
The training course not only raises awareness and professional capacity for staff, but also contributes to spreading and strengthening security culture - an essential foundation for the safe and sustainable development of Vietnam's nuclear energy industry.
