Dong Khoi Commune with 3 breakthroughs to build and develop the homeland

Known as the "cradle" of the Dong Khoi movement in 1960, the 1st Congress of the Dong Khoi Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, identified 3 breakthroughs for development in the coming time. One of the key tasks during the term is to promote traditional cultural values, revolutionary history and Dong Khoi spirit; build the image of the people of Dong Khoi homeland as dynamic, friendly, civilized, full of will and aspiration to rise up; thereby forming an important endogenous strength, contributing to the successful implementation of development goals.

Outstanding results of the 2020-2025 term

Dong Khoi Commune was merged from 3 communes of Binh Khanh, Phuoc Hiep, Dinh Thuy. During the 2020-2025 term, the Commune Party Committee implemented the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress in the context of favorable opportunities and intertwined challenges and difficulties.

With the attention of leadership, active support of departments and branches, along with the spirit of solidarity, consensus, responsibility and great efforts of the entire political system, the Party Committee and People of the commune have strived to deploy and implement the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the term 2020-2025, achieving many important results in all fields.

The Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term set out 136 targets. By the end of the term, 125/136 targets had been achieved and exceeded, reaching 91.91%. The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system was promoted comprehensively, synchronously, drastically, with clear results.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dam - Secretary of Dong Khoi Commune Party Committee said: "With the spirit of solidarity and determination, during the past term, the Party Committee and People of Dong Khoi Commune have strived to overcome all difficulties and challenges, achieving and exceeding many targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the Party Congress.

The Party building work associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle and implementing Conclusion No. 21-KL/TW of the Central Committee (term XIII) has gone into depth, creating positive changes; the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization, the sense of responsibility of cadres and Party members have been raised. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and socio-political organizations have been consolidated, methods have been innovated, and the quality of activities have been improved. The economy , culture and society have had clear changes. National defense and security have been maintained.

Economic development potential

In the draft Resolution of the 1st Congress of Dong Khoi Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, 5 key tasks are set out: Focus on Party building, building a lean, strong, effective and efficient political system, continuing to innovate the Party's leadership method for the political system, ensuring effectiveness, practicality, and closeness to reality, meeting the requirements of the Party's comprehensive leadership in the new period.

Plan and manage land use reasonably; proactively create clean land funds to attract investment, improve the business environment and promote tourism development. Focus on developing the private economy in accordance with local conditions in a fast, sustainable, effective and high-quality direction; identify this as both a key and urgent task and a long-term strategic one. Develop the agricultural economy in a concentrated, clean, organic and safe direction; expand an additional 700 hectares of organic coconuts associated with ecological services and types of tourism. Promote cooperative economy associated with linking production and product consumption.

To carry out the above key tasks, Dong Khoi commune has identified 3 breakthroughs: Focusing on building and developing high-quality human resources to meet local development needs. Developing community ecotourism based on available values and potentials associated with Dong Khoi Ben Tre National Special Relic Site. Developing a synchronous, modern, and climate change-adaptive rural transport infrastructure system.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thuy Lieu - Chairman of Dong Khoi Commune People's Committee said: "Dong Khoi Commune has great potential for development in the coconut industry. Currently, the commune has an organic coconut garden area of 2,935 hectares. The commune also has 3 cooperatives, 36 cooperative groups, 13 companies, mainly trading in coconuts. In recent times, thanks to the focus on synchronous and effective implementation of the project on restructuring the agricultural sector, expanding effective economic models, focusing on developing coconut areas cultivated according to organic processes, linking in production and product consumption... has helped increase the average per capita income to 75.3 million VND/person/year".
