Vietnam meets Thailand in the final of U19 women's Southeast Asia

The Vietnam U19 women's team will meet Thailand in the final of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship at Thong Nhat Stadium.

On the evening of June 16, the Vietnam U19 women's team defeated the Indonesia U19 women's team 4-0 in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship held at Thong Nhat Stadium.

In the 3rd minute, the home team almost scored a goal. Thanh Hieu dribbled the ball at speed on the left wing and shot, goalkeeper Gadhiza Asnanza pushed the ball out, and Hoai Trinh's follow-up shot was promptly cleared by defender Gea Yumanda.

However, the Vietnam U19 women's team also had a very beautiful opening goal in the 10th minute. Nearly 30m from the goal, Hong Minh took a free kick that sent the ball over the fence and into the corner of the goal, leaving goalkeeper Gadhiza Asnanza helpless.

U19 Indonesia then also had a few dangerous attacks but could do nothing against the well-organized defense of U19 Vietnam women's team.

The team from the archipelago even conceded another goal in the 36th minute, after striker Hoang Van skillfully dribbled past a defender and then shot the ball through the legs of the Indonesian U19 women's goalkeeper to score.

In the second half, the game completely belonged to the Vietnam U19 women's team. Within 7 minutes, coach Okiyama Masahiko's team scored 2 goals thanks to Hoai Trinh (minute 48) and Hoang Van (minute 53).

Being down 4-0 made the Indonesian girls seem to have lost their motivation to compete. Meanwhile, the U19 Vietnamese women's team also proactively slowed down the pace of the match, keeping the score the same until the end of the match.

In the other semi-final, Thailand U19 women's team defeated Myanmar 5-1 in a "water battle" at Thong Nhat Stadium. The defending champions' strength was evident in the first half with 4 shots on goal against Myanmar U19.

Thus, the Vietnam U19 women's team will meet Thailand in the final match taking place on June 18. In the third place match, Myanmar U19 will meet Indonesia.

Playing at home, Vietnam U19 women's team will have the opportunity to get revenge on Thailand U19 women's team after losing to their opponent in the final match of the most recent tournament in 2023.
