Vietnam-Cuba agree to promote cooperation in all fields

Vietnam and Cuba expressed their delight at the fact that the special traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba are constantly being consolidated, promoted and developed extensively.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on October 24, local time, on the occasion of attending the BRICS Leaders' Summit in Kazan, Russian Federation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two sides expressed their delight at the fact that the special traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been continuously consolidated, promoted and developed extensively, for the practical benefits of the people of the two countries.

The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in all fields, soon form an Intergovernmental Committee mechanism to discuss cooperation issues; and enhance theoretical exchanges between the two Parties on building socialism and the path to socialism.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is closely following and sharing the difficulties and challenges that the Cuban Government and people are facing due to the widespread power outage caused by storms; the Vietnamese Government and people are ready to support and hope that Cuba will soon overcome the problem and stabilize the lives and livelihoods of its people.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people of Vietnam will never forget Cuba's wholehearted support for Vietnam's struggle for national liberation, always respect, preserve and are determined to further deepen the traditional relationship of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, and stand side by side in supporting the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of not supporting unilateral embargo measures against Cuba.

To continue strengthening the Vietnam-Cuba relationship, the Prime Minister said that the two sides need to continue to cooperate closely to enhance multifaceted cooperation, and urgently concretize the important results of the recent State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla sincerely thanked the valuable support of the Government and people of Vietnam, which has always been a very trustworthy friend, always supporting and assisting Cuba to overcome difficulties in socio-economic development due to the impact of the blockade and embargo, as President Miguel Díaz-Canel assessed that the Cuba-Vietnam relationship is a beautiful symbol, which was painstakingly cultivated by President Fidel Castro, President Ho Chi Minh and generations of leaders of the two countries through many periods; affirming that the young generation and children of Cuba are all educated to always be loyal to this historical foundation.

Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla emphasized the success and historical significance of General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to Cuba last September, which created an important foundation for the development of bilateral relations; he promised to convey Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's regards to senior Cuban leaders.

Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla affirmed that he will direct the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and urge relevant Cuban agencies to coordinate more closely with Vietnam to promptly realize the results of the recent State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam, especially promoting investment and trade cooperation between the two countries, especially agricultural cooperation, ensuring food security./.
