On March 12, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Mr. Komura Masahiro, Member of the House of Representatives, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam from March 10-13. Here, the Member of the House of Representatives said that Japanese enterprises are currently very interested in expanding investment in Vietnam. He suggested that the Vietnamese Government promote further improvement of the investment environment, implement cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation and cooperation within the framework of the AZEC initiative.

Earlier, speaking at the reception, Mr. Bui Thanh Son assessed that 2023 is a particularly successful year in the relationship between the two countries. Upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership creates an important foundation for the Vietnam - Japan relationship in the next 50 years. The two sides have deployed nearly 200 high-level delegations and leaders of ministries, branches and localities between the two countries; solemnly organized more than 500 activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Mr. Bui Thanh Son suggested that in 2024, the two countries ' Ministries of Foreign Affairs should closely coordinate, promote the concretization of the framework of the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that has just been upgraded and implement agreements between senior leaders; increase high-level exchanges at all levels on all Party, State and National Assembly channels; restart and promote cooperation mechanisms between ministries and branches of the two countries.

He also proposed that Japan continue to cooperate and help Vietnam build an independent and self-reliant economy ; provide new-generation ODA for large-scale strategic infrastructure development projects, climate change response, digital transformation, healthcare, etc.; announced that Vietnam is promoting the establishment of a Government working group to accelerate the progress of investment cooperation projects, ODA between the two countries, etc. At the same time, promote people-to-people exchange cooperation through promoting cooperation in culture, tourism, labor, human resource training, etc.

According to Congressman and Deputy Foreign Minister Komura Masahiro, Japanese enterprises are currently very interested in expanding their investment in Vietnam. He suggested that the Vietnamese Government promote further improvement of the investment environment, implement cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation and cooperation within the framework of the AZEC (Asian Net Zero Emission Community) initiative.

Mr. Komura Masahiro also affirmed that he will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to successfully deploy high-level delegations between the two countries in the coming time. The two sides will also continue to support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations; agree to strengthen coordination, share stances, and cooperate on issues of mutual concern.
