In his concluding remarks at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the unification of Quang Binh and Quang Tri is a continuation of the historical spirit, tradition of solidarity, and close ties between the two steadfast lands. The new province has the conditions to shape an open, modern economic development model, linked to the East-West and North-South economic corridors; making the most of the advantages of coastal space, deep-water ports, airports, international border gates, etc.
The new province possesses a diverse and synchronous inter-regional transport system, creating favorable conditions for integration, overall planning and strong development of the fields of marine economy, border gate economy, logistics and international trade.
The merger will facilitate the formation of value chains linking production to consumption, effectively utilizing the infrastructure of Hon La and My Thuy deep-water ports, coastal economic zones and raw material areas along the East-West corridor. This is the basis for enhancing regional competitiveness, increasing the ability to attract large-scale investment and forming a new growth pole in the North Central region.
The General Secretary pointed out that the province currently possesses a large-scale infrastructure network: the North-South Expressway, high-speed railway, Dong Hoi airport and Quang Tri airport (under construction), Hon La and My Thuy ports. These are ideal conditions for developing logistics centers, supporting industries, freight transit and renewable energy on the East-West and North-South corridors.
With a coastline of nearly 200km, the ecosystem of sea, island, adventure and spiritual culture tourism (Phong Nha - Ke Bang, Con Co, La Vang, Thach Han River...) needs to be planned into key tourist clusters with international competitiveness.
