The Departmentof Education and Training of Binh Thuan province announced the admission scores for grade 10 of public high schools in the area for the 2024-2025 school year, of which Ngo Quyen High School on Phu Quy island only scored 7.75 points.

In Binh Thuan province, the school with the highest first-choice admission score is Phan Boi Chau High School, with 32 points. Next are Ly Thuong Kiet High School, Phan Chu Trinh High School, Tuy Phong High School...

Notably, the first admission score to Ngo Quyen High School in Phu Quy island district is only 7.75 points. That means for each subject, candidates only need to score 1.5 points to be admitted to grade 10 of the school.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Hai Tho - principal of Ngo Quyen High School - said that this is the school year with the lowest admission score to grade 10. In previous years, the scores were higher but not significantly.

According to Mr. Tho, the school's enrollment target for grade 10 this year is 360 students, while the candidates' recent exam scores were very low, more than 50% were below average. Therefore, if the benchmark score is higher than the newly announced score, the number of candidates who fail will be very high.

"The learning conditions of the children on the island are limited. They love going to the beach so they don't pay attention to their studies. Their parents pay less attention than their children on the mainland.

Moreover, there is only one high school on the island, if the students fail, they will not know where to go to school. Therefore, the admission score like that also creates an opportunity for the students to continue studying to strive further. Except for the students with failing scores, the rest were admitted to the school," Mr. Tho explained.

"Low input but quality will increase after training"

Also according to teacher Nguyen Hai Tho: "With the current conditions on the island, we accept low-quality students. But the training process in the following years at the school will give higher quality.

The proof is that in recent years, the school's high school graduation exam scores have always been in the top 10 of the province. Nearly 50% of candidates applying to police and military schools have been admitted...".

It is known that the entrance exam for grade 10 of specialized and non-specialized public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year in Binh Thuan province will be held over 3 days, with more than 16,900 candidates taking the exam.
