Why are most of the civil defense and militia members elderly?

At the recent meeting between the Da Nang City People's Council and the civil defense and security forces, nearly 20 voters expressed their opinions on difficulties, problems, aspirations and policy proposals for this force.

Voter Do Tan Hoang (Hai Chau district) said that the current level of support for the civil defense force and militia is still modest, so it does not attract young people to participate, most of the members are elderly.

Mr. Hoang hopes that the City People's Council will have more suitable support policies and regimes to attract more people of all ages to join the force.

Voter Pham Van Vinh (Thanh Khe district) said that the civil defense and militia regularly coordinate with the police to patrol, control, and handle law violators.

"When on duty, this force must coordinate to suppress crimes, many of which use weapons and are reckless. Therefore, voters suggest that the city regularly organize training, professional development, and martial arts training for members to improve their professional skills and ensure work requirements," said Mr. Vinh.

Some voters also expressed their opinions about the lack of support, resting places, working places, and equipment for the civil defense force and militia.

Besides, voters also expect that in the process of patrolling and suppressing crime, if an incident occurs that affects the life and health of these forces, the policies and procedures to support them need to be taken care of, quickly and promptly.

Responding to voters' opinions, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Ho Ky Minh said that to implement the Law on Forces Participating in Protecting Security and Order at the Grassroots Level, the People's Committee of the city has issued an implementation plan, which has been submitted and approved by the Standing Committee of the City People's Council.

"The City People's Committee will receive and record voters' opinions and after the resolutions are issued, the city will continue to adjust and supplement appropriately, and submit them to the City People's Council for approval at an appropriate time," said Mr. Ho Ky Minh.
