In the first training session, the Vietnam U20 women's team resumed training in cool, favorable weather conditions after nearly a month of hiatus. Coach Okiyama Masahiko and the coaching staff reviewed the team's physical condition and conducted light exercises to help the players get into the training rhythm.
Previously, the U20 players also participated in the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship in Ho Chi Minh City. Although they did not win the championship, the young Vietnamese players still left their mark with their progressive playing style and resilient fighting spirit.
In this training session, coach Okiyama Masahiko called up 29 players, including 3 new faces. The Japanese strategist affirmed that he will continue to improve tactics and overcome the remaining limitations from the recent regional tournament.
Notably, the Vietnam U20 women's team will have an important training trip in Japan from July 11 to 21, with quality friendly matches to gain more experience before the important tournament.
According to plan, after more than a month of training, Coach Okiyama and his team will enter the qualifying round of Group B of the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Championship, meeting opponents Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong (China) and Singapore from August 6 to 10, at the home field of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ).
