However, these agencies have noted that flight delays and cancellations at Vietnamese airports are increasing, causing frustration for passengers. Considering on-time performance as a key factor in customer experience, the AirHelp survey results accurately reflect this reality.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the first 6 months of 2025, the average on-time performance rate of the entire industry reached 62.6%, down 13.1 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, Bamboo Airways had an average on-time performance rate of 81%; Pacific Airlines reached 80.2%; VASCO reached 78%, Vietnam Airlines reached 71%, Vietravel Airlines reached 67.7%, Vietjet Air reached 50.6%. In the first 6 months of 2025, domestic airlines canceled 844 flights, equivalent to a rate of 0.6%, up 0.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
According to Ms. Kim Ngan, Deputy Director of Noi Bai International Airport, the main reason for delayed flights is due to the airline's operations, accounting for 93.8%; the reason for delayed flights due to weather is only 1.8%; the rest are due to other reasons such as the airport's service equipment and flight operations. Currently, Noi Bai International Airport is actively coordinating with airlines and ground units to implement synchronous solutions to increase the rate of on-time flights in the coming time.
Specifically, optimizing flight operations using new technology (A-CDM model) has helped relevant units at the port to be proactive in coordinating decision-making, sharing information, and effectively using flight data to ensure operations comply with procedures; helping to effectively coordinate the use of runways and aprons, minimizing waiting time on the ground, contributing to improving flight punctuality.

Airports are also continuing to coordinate to deploy the application of multi-point level 3 air traffic management in Vietnam, thereby minimizing the need for flights to wait when affected by adverse operating conditions such as weather, military flight activities, economic and political events of the country, etc.
Mr. Uong Viet Dung, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that every month, this unit has statistics on the rate of on-time flights of domestic airlines in Vietnam. The Authority has directed airlines to pay special attention during peak transport periods, plan to increase flights, increase operating frequency during off-peak hours and at night; minimize delays and cancellations; maintain and improve the quality of passenger services.
Regarding passengers' complaints about long entry times, affecting the experience of international visitors to Vietnam, information from Vietnamese airports said that passport control and entry stamping are done by the immigration police, and the screening of imported goods is done by the customs. During off-peak times, entry is done quickly, however, during peak hours, when many international flights land consecutively, the entry queue can be long. Airports only intervene when there are complaints or complaints from passengers or through monitoring and supervision channels...
