Vietnam team has new player who can replace Tien Linh

The Vietnam national team will gather in September, with a new player who promises to replace striker Nguyen Tien Linh in the future.

Coach Kim Sang Sik has announced the list of the Vietnamese team that will gather next September to review, test and evaluate the force.

There are quite a few new faces called up such as goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan (Hanoi), central defender Tran Hoang Phuc (Ho Chi Minh City Police), Dinh Quang Kiet (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh ( Nam Dinh ), striker Pham Gia Hung (Ninh Binh).

The most notable of these is Pham Gia Hung - a 25-year-old striker who scored 1 goal despite coming off the bench in the first two matches of Ninh Binh Club in V-League 2025-2026.

Pham Gia Hung's goal against Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club was extremely beautiful, just 5 minutes after coming on as a substitute. Starting from a pass from Hoang Duc, Pham Gia Hung broke through and skillfully chipped the ball past goalkeeper Thanh Tung.

The Vietnamese team does not have many options in attack when Nguyen Xuan Son, Van Toan, Bui Vi Hao are all injured. Pham Tuan Hai is more or less in decline. As for Tien Linh, he has good and bad matches.

Therefore, finding and giving opportunities to new strikers is something that coach Kim Sang Sik must actively do before the Vietnamese team enters the next matches in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup next October. And Pham Gia Hung is the new factor that is expected.

With a good physique (1.82m), Pham Gia Hung is also sharp in finishing thanks to his speed and skillful personal technique. Therefore, this young striker is expected to be a good replacement for Tien Linh in the future if he maintains his impressive form.

In the 2024-2025 First Division, Pham Gia Hung is also the player who scored the most goals for Ninh Binh Club with 6 goals, 3 goals less than Luu Tu Nhan - the "Top scorer" of the tournament. It is worth mentioning that national team striker Dinh Thanh Binh also only scored 4 goals for Ninh Binh Club.

The Vietnamese team is expected to have two practice matches with the Hanoi Police Club (September 4) and Nam Dinh Club (September 7). This is an opportunity for Pham Gia Hung to prove himself so that he can wear the Vietnamese team jersey in the upcoming final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
