In Xuan Van commune, Yen Son district, there are currently nearly 900 hectares of grapefruit, of which more than 200 hectares are planted with Soi Ha grapefruit. In 2017, Soi Ha grapefruit was voted into the Top 10 famous brands and trademarks by the Vietnam Consumers Association; in 2021, it was granted a geographical indication certificate, creating conditions for the product to increase its competitiveness and expand its consumption market. Recently, after passing the inspection process of 923 indicators on pesticide residues and other harmful substances to health, with a certificate of meeting European residue standards, 8,000 Soi Ha grapefruits were exported to the UK market. This is one of the demanding markets with strict regulations, but Soi Ha grapefruit products have received good feedback and orders since the first launch. Mr. Trieu Van Tuyen, Director of Xuan Van Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, Yen Son district, said: The selected grapefruits have a Brix sweetness of 11.5 degrees or higher, no bitterness, peeling segments, juicy; even yellow color, few black spots, no freckles, no insect bites, weight from 1-1.2 kg/fruit and are tested for pesticide residues two weeks before harvest.
