On social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, YouTube..., there are a number of accounts named "Uncle Ho's Camp", "Uncle Ho's Camp", "Royal Flag Protection", "Uncle Ho Lovers' Alliance Association"... attracting the community to participate in interacting, commenting and sharing about social issues that people are interested in. What is the purpose of the information posted on these social network accounts, who is behind it...?

Public rebuttal

Nguyen Hung Dung (residing in Ward 1, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City), a student at a vocational college, said: The accounts "Uncle Ho's Camp" and "Uncle Ho's Barracks" initially posted positive information to attract the attention of the community, then inserted articles and images with bad content, distorting history, shared from accounts created by reactionary elements.

Subject Tran Ba Tu (residing in Hoa Binh province) was arrested by the police for "Making, storing, disseminating, propagating information, documents, and items aimed at opposing the State".

Having said that, Dung opened his phone, went to Google, typed in the phrase “Uncle Ho’s Camp”, and the name of an account on Facebook immediately appeared. Scrolling through the “People you may know in Uncle Ho’s Camp” category, Dung stopped at the account with his name and picture, saying: “Just click like in a comment to become a member of this reactionary group”. In this category, there are also accounts that guide how to use the Internet anonymously in some groups that participate in defaming the regime and distorting historical facts, including the account Minh Trung Nguyen that guides 5 steps to create an anonymous account. Nguyen Hung Dung added: “My group of 5 friends and I soon realized this sinister plot and trick, so we publicly posted comments to refute, speak the truth, and clearly point out the false and distorted information that this social network group has put out”.

On the account “Uncle Ho’s Barracks”, it is not difficult to find members that the Hung Dung group of young people have boldly fought against, pointing out the plots and distorted arguments in the comments. Specifically, the account “Chi No” posted images of the Xuan Loc battle in April 1975 with comments praising the Army of the Republic of Vietnam of the Saigon puppet regime, and was immediately refuted by the accounts Minh Nam, Nguyen Nhan, Hoan Ho… with the content: “The country has been independent and unified for nearly 50 years, what is there to be bitter about anymore”, “The victory of April 30, 1975 brought our country to unity”…

Also on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the accounts Cu Huy Ha Vu, Binh Minh, Viet Tan, Duong Thu Huong, and the group "Royal Flag Protection" continuously posted distorted information about the Victory Day of April 30, 1975. In particular, the account "Royal Flag Protection" took advantage of the fact that the 2 AUD coin had a three-striped flag printed on it to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Australian army's withdrawal from South Vietnam, and made comments that distorted historical facts, going against the good relationship between Vietnam and Australia. Many young people responded to these contents with strong words. The Viet Tan account posted an image of Vietnamese people holding three-striped flags protesting in the US and said: "Those who represent the children of the lost Vietnamese land are demanding democracy", which immediately received strong reactions from the online community, including many young people...

Resolute fight

According to the Security Agency, in recent times, many localities have continuously warned people, especially students, young intellectuals, and workers, about accounts on cyberspace created by reactionary and opposing elements with the aim of distorting history, defaming the image of our nation's leaders; deceiving, enticing, and luring young people to participate in and form opposition forces, opposing the Party and the State. These elements set up Facebook groups with names such as "Uncle Ho's Nephew Camp", but posted positive, negative, and malicious information mixed with social issues of concern to attract the online community to participate in groups and accounts with bad, reactionary content...

By professional measures, the Security Agency has prevented, fought against, and handled thousands of accounts and groups on social networks created by reactionary elements at home and abroad. Thereby, it has verified and investigated many subjects with anti-government activities behind the accounts and groups on social networks; at the same time, prosecuted, temporarily detained, and brought to trial dozens of key subjects in the cases of "Making, disseminating, and propagating information, documents, and items aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam". Among them, the owners of Facebook accounts "Nguyen Phuong" (Phuong Hang Nhat), "Hoang Dung", "Pham Minh Vu" ..., have posted a lot of information, documents, images, and audio files with many followers, likes, and comments with content that distorts the policies, guidelines, and laws of the Party and State; inciting opposition to the Party and State; insulting the honor and dignity of individuals and organizations; inciting conflicts, dividing internal solidarity, negatively affecting security and social order, causing panic among the people.

The reality on cyberspace today shows that many social media accounts from abroad spread bad, toxic information that authorities cannot combat and prevent in time, and have penetrated and spread to digital platforms. People, especially young people, need to be vigilant against the tricks of sabotage subjects and grasp the provisions of the Cyber Security Law to avoid being tricked into participating in groups and forums with bad, toxic, and destructive content by reactionary subjects behind them.

The plots and sabotage activities of reactionary and opposing elements on cyberspace are to attack Party and State leaders of all periods; to promote sabotage activities among students, young intellectuals through acts that violate the law; to link, post, and share articles, clips, and livestreams of reactionary groups and organizations outside the country to attack the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws.
