Posthumous promotion of rank for Deputy Chief of Police of Ward who died on duty

General To Lam - Minister of Public Security signed Decision No. 275/QD-BCA-X01 dated January 13, 2024 on promoting professional officer ranks.

Accordingly, the Minister of Public Security promoted the rank from Captain to Lieutenant Colonel from January 13, 2024 for Captain Tran Duy Hung - Deputy Head of Thuy Van Ward Police ( Hue City Police, Thua Thien - Hue Province).

General To Lam signed a decision to posthumously confer the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on Captain Tran Duy Hung - Deputy Head of Thuy Van Ward Police (Hue City).

Previously, at around 6:00 p.m. on January 12, at lane 7, Xuan Hoa residential group (Thuy Van ward, Hue city), Nguyen Tan Sang (born in 1999, residing at the above address) showed signs of mental illness and blocked vehicles, quarreled, and threatened passersby.

Immediately upon receiving the report from the people, Captain Tran Duy Hung, Deputy Chief of Thuy Van Ward Police, along with officers on duty and civil defense guards quickly arrived at the scene to handle the incident.

Here, when he discovered the working group, Nguyen Tan Sang ran into the house and then came back out to attack Captain Tran Duy Hung with a knife.

Seeing Nguyen Tan Sang being reckless and using dangerous weapons, Captain Tran Duy Hung bravely jumped in to control the man, not allowing him to threaten the lives and health of people in the neighborhood.

While restraining Nguyen Tan Sang, Captain Tran Duy Hung was repeatedly stabbed in the neck by this man. Afterwards, Sang continued to attack the working group.

Immediately after the incident, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director and Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thua, Deputy Director of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police, quickly arrived at the scene to direct Captain Tran Duy Hung to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to severe injuries, Captain Tran Duy Hung died.

The police then controlled and arrested the suspect, Nguyen Tan Sang, at the scene.
