On July 2, Foreign Trade University (FTU) held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the rector of Foreign Trade University for the 2020-2025 term.

According to the decision just signed by the Minister of Education and Training , Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice Principal of Foreign Trade University will hold the position of Principal of the school for the 2020 - 2025 term from July 1.

Ms. Huong takes over the position of principal from Associate Professor Dr. Bui Anh Tuan who has retired from management.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thu Huong - the new principal of Foreign Trade University, expressed her emotion and honor at being officially assigned the responsibility of principal of Foreign Trade University.

According to Ms. Huong, in the context of constant innovation, many challenges from policies, from technology, the constant fluctuations of the world, increasingly strong competition in the fieldof education , require a breakthrough in thinking, in approach, in method and in action.

"The mission is not only to maintain the Ngoai Thuong brand but also to surpass ourselves, asking Ngoai Thuong people the question of where and how to start?", Ms. Huong shared.

With the responsibility of principal, Ms. Huong committed to running the organization according to the principle of "stability and efficiency", promoting democracy, strengthening internal solidarity, ensuring close and effective coordination in leadership and direction.

Gradually forming a culture of "honesty, sharing and companionship" in implementing development strategies, while closely following the motto of "being different to lead" to promote a culture of "innovation".

Building a sustainable development foundation goes from strengthening the foundation and pillars to perfecting functions to bring value to subjects in the educational ecosystem, while identifying breakthrough development directions and thoroughly applying the "leverage motivation model" in the context of limited resources to achieve the school's strategic development goals.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong, born in 1977, from Hung Yen (formerly Thai Binh province), is a former student of the 34th course, majoring in foreign economics at the Foreign Trade University.

In 2004, she completed her master's degree in economics at Aarhus University, Denmark. In 2012, she received her PhD in economics (majoring in world economics and international economic relations) at the Foreign Trade University.

Ms. Huong has been associated with Foreign Trade University for 30 years since she was a student. She has held many positions at the university such as head of professional department of Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Development Institute (VJCC), head of planning and finance department, head of training management department and vice principal of Foreign Trade University from 2019 to present.

In addition, she also served as the president of the trade union of Foreign Trade University for many years.

Ms. Huong has been involved for many years in the Admissions and Career Counseling Day program organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in coordination with other units, as a member of the advisory board.

Thus, after Ms. Huong was appointed as principal, the school now has two vice principals, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien and Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Hien. The Chairwoman of the Foreign Trade University Council is Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy.
