National Energy Center in the Southeast of the province: Providing national grid electricity according to mobilization needs

Vinh Tan Power Center in the Southeast of Lam Dong affirms its role as the National Energy Center, providing a stable power source, serving the key economic development of the South of the country. The center connects production activities and environmental protection.

The 3 Vinh Tan thermal power plants (1, 2, 4) at Vinh Tan Power Center have 7 units with a total capacity of 4,284 MW, the largest power production scale in the country. The plants are assembled by the investor with modern thermal power technology from developed countries, using imported coal or mixed with domestic coal, limiting emissions, and protecting the environment. For many years, the 3 plants of Vinh Tan Power Center have operated stably and safely, meeting the demand for mobilization to the national grid at all times; serving socio-economic development, including Lam Dong. The total national grid-connected electricity output of the 3 plants has so far reached more than 178 billion kWh, contributing to compensating for the 500 kV transmission line in the Southeast region during the dry season, prolonged hot weather, and water shortages in hydropower plants. The plants contribute nearly 2,000 billion VND to the state budget annually.

Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Director of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant said: “According to the direction from EVN, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has increased the availability factor of 3 units (S1, S2, S3), with a total capacity of 1,800 MW, proactively provided fuel sources, ensuring the factory's continuous and safe production, fully meeting the electricity output mobilized at each time. In the first 6 months of the year, Vinh Tan 4&4 Thermal Power Plants expanded production to 4,652 million kWh; Vinh Tan 4 strives to meet the electricity output of 11,432 million kWh according to the plan assigned by EVN this year. After more than 7 years of commercial operation, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has reached an output of nearly 55 billion kWh of electricity, demonstrating the efforts of the factory's staff.”

Mr. Do Huynh Phong, Deputy Director of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company, owner of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant, said: "With the support of Power Generation Corporation 3 and the efforts of the staff of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company, up to now, Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant and Vinh Tan 2 Solar Power Plant have been operating stably. The company's electricity output in the first 6 months of this year was 3 billion 882 million kWh; the accumulated output since its operation is 73 billion 180 million kWh."

Meanwhile, Vinh Tan 1 Thermal Power Plant under Vinh Tan 1 Power Company Limited (BOT Company) is always mobilized at full capacity of 620 MW for both units. To contribute to ensuring domestic electricity supply during the long dry season, BOT Company supervises the operation of 2 units, preventing machine stoppages or capacity reductions. The operating team is arranged reasonably, ensuring the completion of production tasks. In the first 6 months of this year, the plant reached 3.95 billion kWh, equal to 52.51% of the annual plan. From commercial operation on July 6, 2018 to June 30, 2025, Vinh Tan 1's electricity output to the national grid was more than 50.79 billion kWh; the first plant in Vietnam to achieve a commercial electricity output of 50 billion kWh in a record 7 years of operation. BOT Company is supplied with coal from Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV); average daily inventory per month is about 305 thousand tons, ensuring reserves for 2 generators to operate for 22 days at full load.

Since its operation, the 3 factories have actively carried out social security work in Vinh Hao commune and neighboring communes, supporting the locality in building electricity, roads, schools, new rural standard stations, poor students who love to study, building houses of gratitude for families with preferential policies and poor households. At the 3 factories, more than 40% of local people's children work with a good income compared to the regional average, solving jobs for young workers in the area, contributing to changing the face of the new rural area of Vinh Hao commune in the sunny and windy land.
