BHG - Exactly a century ago, on June 21, 1925, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - a patriotic young man with great ideals of national independence and socialism in his heart founded Thanh Nien, the first revolutionary newspaper of our country. The birth of Thanh Nien not only marked an important turning point on the ideological and cultural front in the Vietnamese revolutionary movement but also gave birth to a new journalism: Revolutionary journalism - journalism of ideals, of service, of the aspiration to liberate people and build a fair and civilized society.

Over 100 years of formation and development, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the revolutionary press has always accompanied and closely associated with the destiny of the nation, with the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and our people. In every historical period, from the years of fighting for independence, the resistance war against invaders, to the period of national reunification, innovation and international integration, the revolutionary press has always promoted its pioneering role on the ideological front, being the voice of the Party, the State and the People; being the bridge connecting the Party's ideas with the people's hearts; being a source of strong encouragement for revolutionary movements; at the same time, being a sharp tool in propaganda work, fighting against false arguments, protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

Newspaper pages have been imprinted with the sweat, tears and blood of countless revolutionary journalists – the silent soldiers on the silent front. They are ready to overcome all dangers, fight on the front lines, regardless of harsh weather, natural disasters and epidemics… just to bring back a line of news, a photo, an honest story, valuable in orienting public opinion and fostering faith in the Party and in the victory of the nation. It is no coincidence that Uncle Ho once affirmed: “Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons”.

Over the past 100 years, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has grown steadily in all aspects. Along with the development of science and technology, our country's press system has entered the digital age, transforming dramatically in terms of content, form and methods of information transmission. But regardless of the form, traditional print media, radio and television, or modern multimedia and electronic newspapers, the core mission of the revolutionary press remains unchanged, which is: Serving the interests of the Party, the Fatherland and the People; taking truth as the standard, responsibility as the foundation, and people as the center.

In the process of innovation and integration, the press not only continues to be the voice of the Party but also becomes an important force in discovering and reflecting on social problems; contributing to building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be increasingly clean and strong. Many examples of dedicated, honest and brave journalists have clearly demonstrated their political mettle, professional ethics and devotion to the People - what makes up the noble value and special qualities of the Vietnamese revolutionary press.

Today, facing new challenges of the information age, with the explosion of social networks and multi-dimensional information flows, revolutionary press must maintain its role as the “gatekeeper” of information, not only reporting news quickly but also accurately and with direction, contributing to preserving people’s trust in the Party and State’s policies and guidelines. The press must be steadfast in its mission of enlightening, educating and guiding public opinion – like a torch lighting the way in the vast sea of information, sometimes full of confusion and chaos.

100 years – a glorious journey but also full of thorns and challenges. Looking back on that journey is to be even more proud of the precious tradition, to appreciate even more the silent and persistent contributions of generations of revolutionary journalists – those who used their pens to build the country, to preserve justice, to raise Vietnam’s stature in the international arena.

The 100th anniversary of Vietnam's revolutionary press is not only an occasion to express gratitude and honor the great contributions of the country's press, but also a reminder of a noble mission: Continuing to innovate, improve the quality, ethics and mettle of journalism; always accompanying the Party, serving the People, for a democratic, civilized, fair and progressive society.

Revolutionary journalism – a century has passed, the journey ahead is still wide open. With a firm belief in the revolutionary ideal and the power of the People, the Vietnamese press will certainly continue to write brilliant golden pages, worthy of the glorious tradition and noble mission that history has entrusted.
