Gratitude to the land of origin

Over the years, Military School of Military Region 5 has always organized practical and meaningful gratitude activities in Tra Giap commune, where the school was established on the banks of the Nuoc Rin River in 1961, contributing to the struggle for national liberation as well as building forces in peacetime.

Meaningful...

64 years ago, in the middle of Tak-Po-Rang forest (now in village 2, Tra Giap commune), the Inter-zone 5 Military School was established.

During the arduous years of resistance, the Ca Dong and Co people here quietly sheltered, hid, and supported the school's staff and students.

From that deep forest, generations of cadres were trained, matured, and contributed to the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country.

Now, as a prestigious training center of Military Region 5, the school returns to Tra Giap with many meaningful gratitude activities.

From 2021 to present, the school has supported the construction of 5 gratitude houses, each worth 80 million VND; at the same time, it has provided tables, chairs, televisions and essential gifts. In mid-2025, two more houses will continue to be supported under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Colonel Huynh Don, Principal of the school, shared: “Returning to Tra Giap not only shows gratitude but also responsibility and sincere affection for the land that nurtured and sheltered the school during the resistance war. And today, when the commune still has many difficulties, we wish to make a small, practical contribution to support the people to improve their lives.”

One of the two households receiving support this time is Mr. Nguyen Manh Tai, a Co person in village 2. "Now that the army has helped me with 80 million VND, I am very happy. Thanks to the villagers contributing their working days, I will try to finish my house before September 2 so that I can have a decent place to celebrate Independence Day," Mr. Tai said emotionally.

Vice Chairman of Tra Giap Commune People's Committee, Mr. Ho Van Dung said: "The commune has nearly 6,000 people, life is still difficult, nearly half of them are poor households. The school's support in building houses is very valuable, people have a stable place to live then they can feel secure to develop the economy ."

Imprints by the Rin stream

One of the special highlights in the series of gratitude activities is the memorial project where the school was founded, which is being built on a large scale next to Nuoc Rin irrigation lake.

The project covers an area of ​​over ^3,000m2 , divided into two phases. Phase 1 costs over 2.8 billion VND with foundation, yard, stairs, embankment, lighting... and is now basically in shape.

Phase 2 will continue with monuments, stone stele, trees, landscape decoration, creating a cultural and historical highlight in the heart of the highland commune.

The project was carried out with the school's internal resources and legal socialized resources, and is a vivid symbol of the military-civilian bond, of the historical source that always flows in the hearts of soldiers working in education .

From the old Nuoc Rin stream, where the school was formed amidst the rain of bombs and bullets, today echoes the sound of machines and people bustling about building houses and erecting memorial stele.

All is like a return full of affection, continuing the revolutionary tradition with concrete and persistent actions.

From that land of origin, the meaningful activities of Military School of Military Region 5 continue to spread throughout the Central Highlands, not only with military knowledge but also with steadfast affection for the people.
