The lights at Turf Moor were switched on but malfunctioned and kept flickering. This left the players dazzled and unable to concentrate.
The referee called the captains of both teams to explain the situation and stopped the match to give technical staff time to fix the problem.

The incident was resolved by the Turf Moor staff turning off the lights. After the match resumed, Jaidon Antony scored the winning goal for Burnley late on to win 2-0.
