In theory, TikTok will only be allowed to operate in the US until mid-September. In order for the social network to continue operating, ByteDance, TikTok's owner, needs to sell ownership of TikTok to a US entity.
After many efforts to search, ByteDance has yet to find a suitable partner to sell its ownership in the US.
However, in a recent interview with Fox News, US President Donald Trump revealed that he had found “a very rich person” willing to buy TikTok to help the social network continue to operate in the US.

Accordingly, when host Maria Bartiromo asked President Trump whether to extend the time to impose import tariffs on countries around the world, Mr. Trump said he could do that, but he also said "it's not a big deal".
“Like TikTok. I’m extending the ban. But it’s not a big deal. By the way, I found a buyer for TikTok. I think I need approval from China, but I think President Xi will,” Trump said in an interview.
“Who will buy TikTok?” Bartiromo asked back.
“I’ll tell you in about two weeks,” President Trump replied with a smile, adding that the person planning to buy TikTok is “a very wealthy individual.”
The value of social network TikTok in the US is estimated at 20 to 50 billion USD.
Many American "tech giants" such as Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon... have offered to buy TikTok but were not accepted by ByteDance.
Previously in April 2024, former President Joe Biden signed an executive order forcing TikTok to divest from its Chinese owner and sell it to a US legal entity, otherwise the social networking platform would be banned from operating from January 19.
However, on January 20, newly elected President Donald Trump signed an executive order to delay the TikTok ban until April 5, helping TikTok "revive" just 12 hours after being suspended in the US.
President Trump then signed another executive order on April 5 and most recently on June 19 to allow the social network TikTok to continue operating in the US.
President Trump's repeated executive orders extending the effective date of the TikTok ban have allowed the social network to operate in the US as if it had never faced a ban.
Unlike his first term, when President Donald Trump tried every way to ban TikTok in the US, now, Trump himself is trying every way to save TikTok. During his campaign, Trump even created a TikTok account to reach young voters.
