Vietnam and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 1992. Vietnam always values and wishes to strengthen relations with Lithuania, a traditional friendly partner in the Central Eastern European region. In return, Lithuania considers Vietnam an important geopolitical partner in the Southeast Asian region.
Bilateral trade has made much progress, but is not commensurate with its potential. In the first 3 months of 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached 94.7 million USD, an increase of 94.4% over the same period in 2024. Lithuania has 3 valid direct investment projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of about 260 thousand USD in the fields of communications, science and technology and health .
The two countries closely coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums.
There are about 100 Vietnamese citizens living and working in Lithuania. Most of them are concentrated in commercial centers in the capital Vilnius. In addition, there are about 100 workers and international students working and studying in Lithuania.
The Vietnamese Association in Lithuania was established in 2012 and recognized by the local government. It has a spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, and a focus on the Fatherland, and has made positive contributions to the local socio -economy, and is highly appreciated by Lithuanian authorities at all levels.
